Yeah wasn't on RTT so had no idea the times.

Speed isn't everything. I'd rather have a new loco on a heritage railway

For BL - MD, that's for the Grid only. I don't know when the Shed is arriving, but as it's starting Friday at BL, it's highly unlikely to go to MD when it arrives. They will probably arrive separately as they are from different companies.

Well I'm on all three days next weekend no and I fully intend to search out miss Robin and have a chat about next years
Some of the diagrams this year are nothing short of baffeling though I can't see the point of the DMU going back and forth Minehead to Dunster I wonder who thought that would be an attractive addition to the timetable,I mean IF it had the 03 as pilot that might be something but no just the cart
I hear on the grapevine Miss R has a likening for 16wheeled brush locos sobheres hopeing that the railways seamingly built in distrust of the crowd that is brought in by diesils can be overcome and this railway will at long last have a good slice of the Gala pie

I expect this is based on a provisional time given to the WSR by Network Rail. The actual timings probably haven't been finalised yet, that's why they are not on RTT.

Well maybe fingers crossed next year both the 03 and 04 will be operational so we can do top and tail shuttles like we have in the past.

I'm doing a lot of listening at the moment in connection with the Operations Development Officer role I have taken on. (There will be a public invitation for staff / supporters to contact me shortly.) and yes, I should be around throughout the MTW (awful name) so do PM me and we can find an opportunity to meet up when I am not pulling levers.

I worked with most of the main line diesels in use in the late 80's and early 90's and had some memorable rides / experiences 'in the line of duty'. A class 47 on fire and a class 37 in the far west of Scotland stand out particularly for different reasons...

Mediocre is not good enough for the WSR in future.

Lets hope things change for the better, After this years (Non) Event,

Is there scope in future to borrow Washfords shunter( don't think it has air brakes though) as well as use the Andrew Barclay shunters on a shuttle somewhere on the line at all ?
Heading into this brave new world thats being promised.

Now the 04 is a draw. Not worked an advertised passenger train for decades.

    Down boy!

Passenger trains have to be continuously braked.

Remember the ex MOD shunters being advertised to work one Friday to Dunster years ago, in the event a fragonset 33 was used instead with no explanation to those there.

One problem with those shunters is that they are air-brake only, so would have to use the dual-braked BSO + 1xTSO on any shuttles, meaning there would be no air-braked set for full-length line runs, unless they top and tailed the full set on a Dunster or Blue Anchor shuttle between other trains. Also, they rarely get used at Minehead, the 03 being the regular shunter, so would need a bit of work to get them running reliably again.

Couldnt they put the MOD shunter on the top of a Vac braked shunter? the trouble with that is even if that is possible its very expensive in terms of crew

Only if the vac braked shunter has loco air brakes, which no shunters on the WSR do except, of course, the 09 at BL which is dual-braked. The leading loco must be able to operate the train brakes.
