British India Line became part of P&O, their final ship was the SS Uganda, the schools cruise ship.

Of course! I should have known this as I recall seeing both the BI Line cruise/school ships Nevasa and Uganda alongside in Venice. I was lucky enough to go on a school educational cruise on board Uganda. It was 1969 and Cyprus, which was one of the places visited, was not then a divided island. I must state that this young introduction to a maritime experience had no influence on my subsequent joining of the Senior Service or a second career in the junior one!

I was one of the Engineers on The Uganda, reactivating her from lay-up, in the River Fal, post Falklands, getting her ready to sail to Taiwan for scrapping.

Those BI ships were lovely vessels. I pass some big bollards on my cycle to work which are painted black with white bands at just the right position for BI funnels... It always cheers me up, like I imagine the line-up at Mombasa quayside...

This shipping line is still very much with us in name, but is a subsidiary of Carnival.

I know that the loco name is abbreviated but Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company might be the longest name on any operational steam locomotive. (A bit of research for someone!)

It could have been one of only two steam locomotives to have 'steam' in the name. However, since it has been abbreviated, it can't really claim this, but it is probably still a runner for longest.

On an operational one maybe but a couple of V2s make even the full name look a tad short. :) The Snapper, The East Yorkshire Regiment, The Duke of York's Own and The Green Howard, Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment

I think it's the longest name for a preserved loco, but not any loco ever.

'3rd (Volunteer) Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment' as carried by 45231 in the 70s/80s is longer. Not an original name, of course.

Excellent video of P&O with 14 on - two rakes of trains in fact, and a 9F trailing behind.
She's working hard, after 30-odd years:

She looked sensational on Sunday, a credit to all those who have toiled & persevered over many years. Can't wait to see her roll into Broadway in a year or 2.

I had a trip out on the weekend and all looked good a great restoration and credit to all. The coaches have improved since my last visit lots of new seat covers.
The loco safety valve was seeing lots of action during my visit I assume the crew are still getting used to the loco.
