I also hope for those who are still doing this marathon journey that 34052 does put on a good show and she is not running on Diesel!
I can see that the RTC won't bother doing any trips from Guildford again if they are going to be issued with such ridiculous timings.
I am a little disappointed that I won't be on the trip for the Bulleid action.
But on the plus side I will now be at the MHR enjoying a trip back in time and I don't have to get up just after I go to bed and I will get home the same day.

Couldn't they just stop at Goodrington to let people who want to get off at Paignton detrain? If there's a service train in the other direction it can just go on the other platform.

There really is no reason why they can't stop at Paignton. I'm away in Cornwall at present and local news have been discussing the massive over reaction by the council . Half the roads are being closed and residents are having to buy special parking permits. The non stopping seems to be for crowd control reasons

I hope the timings are not affected too much. I would guess the pathing is tight with all the other trains operating for the Airshow.

Typical of WCRC. Diesel on the back and didn't even take it off after 47245 - what a load of rubbish that one is - expired at Taunton. Even worse, Coach J that we were in, was a Compartment Brake. Typically RTC didn't have the courtesy to tell us that when they sent the tickets out. Train so not for us. At least there was a 1045 back to BTM. Why do we keep booking? Answers on a postcard and keep them clean!!!!

I understand Shireman's frustration. Why does this train need a diesel at rear? Will the Torbays have a diesel - have booked on one and was hoping to do more.

For reasons as to why there are diesels on the back see the myriad of other posts on the subject which usually include the reasons which have not changed.:Banghead:

They're a real enigma when it comes to diesels on the back ! I'd of sworn there would be one on the rear of Scotsman today, but not on the Dartmouth run !

The Torbays are with DBC so highly unlikely.

Hope so. I see from vids that yesterday's trip was load 11. Braunton has taken 11 to Kingswear and back unassisted previously and IIRC that is the limit for the loco whereas King/Tornado allowed 12? However, on at least one occasion there was rear end assistance on the T&D.
So my question remains why did this particular train need a diesel at the rear - Network Rail requirement, T&D request?

The national network apparently ran a lot of extra trains for the Air Show. I suspect that might be the reason.

Some nice clips there. Just for the record though, you can see that on the climb through Burlescombe, the steepest part of Whiteball, Braunton is under gentle power (listen to the exhaust) and being pushed, as one might expect. So for anyone hoping for a typical Kingswear steam experience as per the Torbay express, this trip may well have been a disappointment. But it's good to see the Bulleid back to normal after its hiccup with coal on the Peak Forester.

Shot at Bruton (not like you can guess at all!) Diesel pushing as well here unfortunately.
