Does anyone else here use a Camper Van to visit preservation sites and other related places ?

I'm looking for suggestions of good (wild) places to park up for the night

Layby at top of Glenfinnan Bank on the West Highland Line, doesn't come much wilder than that.

No I prefer the comfort of a nice B&B in Fort Bill but anywhere along the Mallaig road is as wild as you can get.You could turn off at Lochailort and go down the dead end road by the Glenuig Inn (some good Scottish beers served) that leads to a secluded beach. There is also the road from Arisaig to Rhue at the end of the road by the boathouse, you will probably wake up and be looking at the seals on the rocks or if you are really lucky an otter. All this and at this time of year two Jacobite steam trains every day.

thanks but I need specific experiences.

(Wild Camping is the term used for parking/camping other than in a campsite, can be in the centre of a city , possibly not Oxford St though)

Not wild camping but we use Kelling Heath for the North Norfolk Railway. Very good site and it has a holt on the line.
Staying near Corfe Castle for the first stop of our summer holiday for the Swanage Railway. Again not wild, but hey it's £20 a night for the 3 of us with all the facilities!!

No objection to people wild camping - with one proviso, Please leave the site tidier and cleaner than you found it.

More than welcome to make use of the field at Foxfield, it does get used for camping and, whilst not having the facilities of a campsite, does at least have access to fresh water and somewhere to empty your toilet cassette!

Also has the advantage that the 'One Legged Shunter' real ale bar in the station is open at weekends
