    Hi All

Looking forward to the seeing the Scotsman this weekend. i need some help with the location im going to.

I am planning on going to Harringworth Viaduct on Saturday, and i wonder if someone can advise of some good vantage points? where the best place to park is? and where the nearest refreshments are (Bacon Rolls and Tea).

had a look on the village website and says the scotsman is due through around about 10am but i can imagine it will be busy with photographs so get there early for good spot.

    hope some one can help

    Cheers

There is a long view from the B672 Seaton Road north of the viaduct at the top of the hill. if you are taking photographs you will need a medium tele lens. It's a minor road and you can park on the verge. There is a good view from the otherside of the line in the fields to the west of the site of Seaton Station (now Seaton Salvage) but will be no good it pf the sun is out, NN173AF for SatNav. The viaduct is currently undergoing some major remedial work so part of it may be shrouded in scaffolding and there is a speed restriction which means the loco will only be coasting.
As for bacon rolls I'm sorry I've got no idea, I'm usually straight off to the next location.
If you are coming from the south there should be no problem with going to somewhere like Clapham or Sharnbrook first but some of the bridge parapets have been raised in anticipation of electrification so you may need a step ladder.
    Hope this helps.

I passed through Harringworth a few weeks ago on route to my location and it was hectic ! There was dedicated parking for local residents and there was refreshments outlets setup for the onlookers ! Harringworth itself is an incredible sight, but for me it's a non event as the Viaduct is all down hill and the engine just coasts over and there is also a severe restriction once off the viaduct, also the light is very poor as any kind of sunlight would be on eastern side. I went one mile further north to Seaton to get the engine working, though the crowds had also descended on the location, where unfortunately mass trespass occurred. My video below shows some of the angles you can get at Seaton.

And given what happened on 4/6 and the absence of any additional paths out of Victoria, this will, once again, be a journey with assistance available at the rear.

Nice Sound climbing out of Kettering ,much better than last tme.Nothing from diesel on the back. First time I 've heard the whistle, sounded like normal LNER A3/V2 to me.Never very powerful.

My effort from Oakley old station just north of Bedford. Old station building just visible on the extreme right. Loco not working over hard but box on back seemed as dead as a dodo.

Great performance from her especially without the use of diesel assistance. My footage of her at Souldrop and Asfordby. Enjoy.

Presume you were at the foot crossing between the goods avoider and the fast lines at Souldrop.

Indeed I was. I was quite fortunate not just because I managed to get the spot as you can see, but also just minutes after she came past, a voyager came down the other way.

Some of the people on the road bridge at Oakley likely got bowled by another Meridian unit.

No matter which way any reader voted, it was interesting to see a number of people having photos of themselves posing in front of the large Union Flag on the side of 47580 while awaiting departure from York on the return to London.
Some appeared pleased with the Out vote.

We laugh, but earlier this year at the NRM I heard someone suggest just that without a hint of sarcasm...
