All locos should be wearing faces, including Maude (class 03 shunter), Daisy the DMU and Toad the brake van.

Will they be turning on turntable/triangle or just going tender first.

Plenty of charters arrive at WSR as a location, I'd would love to see a charter from the WSR to somewhere else. Maybe another heritage railway.

It is very sad to hear from Steve Edge's site that the floral train on platform 2 at BL has been vandalised by thieves. Repeatable words fail me.

The article also reads ..... "The theft took place over the weekend and we understand it may be possible to identify the culprit."

    I most certainly hope so.

Roster/operational question for the WSR types on here - I'm heading that way on a day off next Tues. Timetable looks like a three-train service but the roster on the WSR.org site has four engines out (7828/6960/53808/44422) - is there a swap during the day or something extra happening?

  9. That's how the roster sheet shows it. I suspect it is a swop - 44422 is out in the morn then 53808 takes over in the afternoon.

    Oh, and enjoy your day!

    Steve

    Mr Edge Sir,

A thought has just crossed my mind. Is the culprit on the video footage a well known local resident ?

  11. Assume you refer to the stolen plants story? Perhaps you meant to send your thoughts as a PM? I merely published the report, Mr Fraser, to raise awareness and hoping folks would rally and help the Head Gardener at Lydeard.

I believe this matter is best left to the authorities to resolve and speculation here is not helpful. I hope you agree.

And quite rightly so. In the meantime it is good to see that the display has been re-instated and is pictured on Steve's site.

53808 will not be out tomorrow now, change of plan today. 44422 has several more days avaliable before washout so they are being used up first. 53808 will be spare alongside 53809, both are on shed at minehead and make a great photo.

Help with the WSRA Steam Rally 6/7 August

The latest news item on Steve Edge's site www.wsr.org.uk is a request for help at the Steam Rally in August. This is a great show and a lot of fun to work on (which also means you get to see (and be part of) the show for free). There is job to suit everyone, from sedate ticket office types to more out-and-about folk.

I expect to be there again this year persuading a credit card machine to work in the middle of a field.

Do fill the form in and come and help if you can.

    Robin

Your thought might be better addressed to charter operators. I suspect that the reason it works the way it does is to do with catchment areas for a sufficient number of enthusiasts to make a charter worthwhile. If you could find 150 plus friends who'd be interested in a charter starting at MD I'm sure the charter companies would talk to you.

In 2007 we had a very successful charter from Minehead to York for £27.50 a head which after picking up at Taunton, WesatonTemple Meads and Parkway was pretty well full.
On 28th April2007 a very successful charter was run from Minehead to York which a party of us enjoyed in a first class compartment decorated with balloons and streamers as it was my wife's 60th birthday. i can be done!
