Miserable weather conditions today as LNE A3 class 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' races through Greenhalme with the northbound 'Hadrian'

I have to admire all the guys and gals who went out today and I hope you kept your equipment dry lol

 

Never been on here for ages but after seeing Flying Scotsman today on its maiden trip along the Tyne Valley, i thought i would share my photos which are my own and i dont give permission for them to be shared or used elsewhere.

Im not a professional photographer by any means but would appreciate any constructive comments

 

Today was the first opportunity I've had to see Scotsman since her overhaul. Made a fine sight, if only the weather had played ball. She is seen at Beck Houses near Grayrigg on the WCML & then approaching Gilsland on the Tyne Valley line.

A difficult task in the circumstances but standing in a field in the Lune Gorge with no shelter for any length of time was a sign of either stupidity or obsession; my wife still hasn't quite decided which it is !

 

Flying Scotsman on a very 'blustery' climb up Shap at Salterwath.

 

Looks like the A3 took the climb very much in its stride without any assistance. Any speed at the summit info, seems a brisk pace from the films?
