SVR Western Weekend 27th-29th August

A Western Region mixed traction event over the August Bank Holiday weekend, celebrating 40 years since the withdrawal of class 52s from BR service. D1015 and D1062 in use with 3 steam.

Sounds tempting, any chance of having the steamers from the Swindon stable to match ?.

 

I think that's the intention but you never know what will happen in the meantime.

Hmm, yes that's what I thought. But the event page reckons 40 years. Tbf, most had been withdrawn by the end of '76.

True. At 27th August 1976 there were 23 Westerns still in service* (and I, aged 14, was busy chasing round after them). Still, it will be warmer and lighter to commemorate it in August!
