What happened between Scarborough and Malton this afternoon? Dropped 45 mins.

Another couple of views of it leaving un-sunny Scarborough...

Apparently an AWS / TPWS fault on the loco ive heard. It was put into Malton loop after contacting signalman, and 37s summoned from York to rescue train. They were then stood down and train worked back solo....so guessing fault rectified.

Not flat batteries for the aws equipment again? Very unfortunate if it was, as it has happened to WCRC previously.
    Cheers, Neil

No not battery problem, but as Oli says, TPWS related, it was eventually sorted by the crew after following procedures and getting clearance from signaller/control.

Presumably the absence of LE movements between Carnforth and York today means it is 48151 again tomorrow.

The gossip two weeks ago was that if 48151 stayed healthy it would be on the SSE all season with a trip back to Carnforth to cover the Welsh Mountaineer.

Thanks for that information. Looks like being a cheap and restful summer tending the garden then!

If one is in to such things this has popped up, on the WCRC Facebook page...

I can confirm that the Diesel section of the Scarborough Spa Express on the 28th of July will be hauled by 56302 Colas class 56

There are quite a few into these sort of things, so many that I believe that at least one more coach is to be added.

I wonder if the Cl.56 fans will bail out in York in disgust when the steam loco is substituted!!!

Presumably subbed, as the Black 8 is Vac only and the 'grid' will be Air I guess?

Handy things these dual brake Mk1's ;)

The loco swop at Holgate is well known in advance.

Yes, also would not be surprised that some only book a one way, others are more likely to be on the return anyway as they can get do it with just an afternoon off work. 6.15 off York, but they do have to suffer the short ride to Holgate with steam on the front.
