Anyone know which engines are out tomorrow? Will be making a trip over since I'm on holiday down South!

Wondering how much the southern railway benches are likely to go for.

I wouldn't know what to offer. Where in northdevon are they likely have come from?

Ultimately its what the market will pay, but I would say around £250 would be a fair price.

At around the same time in the 1980s the WST acquired a quantity from around Braunton and also from Chatham. Impossible to say which from where now.

The roster is a bit misleading at present. Changes have been made but have not been published, hence wsr.org.uk is not up to date (Steve can only publish what he is told). For the past few days, the locos have been 4936 (MD), 6960 and 53808 (BL) and are likely to be the same this weekend, along with D7017. The mainline charter has been cancelled by the organisers due to lack of mainline steam loco.

Agreed. 250-300GBP for original & complete benches, not including any shipping, appears to me to be a very good deal. Almost a bargain, one might say. This could be a cost-neutral deal for the stations & thanks to the Plc & WSRA for enabling it.
    It's a pity one won't fit in my carry-on!

Its a pity the WSR PLC website no longer has a loco roster.
If I had known 4936 was on MD duty they would have had an extra passenger this week.

One suggestion I would make is that, if anyone is planning a visit, they take a look at the MD and BL webcams a day or two before their visit, and see if the engines working match the roster. Generally, locos are rostered for as many consecutive days as possible. Also, I noticed someone asked the same question on the WSR Facebook page yesterday, and got the same answer as I gave above, so there's another route to obtaining info.

While I have sympathy for those who want to visit to see a particular loco perform I have to say that as an operational volunteer not even I always know the night before exactly which loco is rostered. There can be all sorts of last minute operational difficulties, I have to look in the diary when I book on which is the only definitive document as it tells the crews which loco to prep that morning. Even then I've swapped loco's during morning prep due to finding a problem on the rostered loco.

Axle boxes from 9351 being prepared for a trip to Stones Engineering.

Interesting to see which locos they have been part of in the past...

Went on the wheel on minehead seafront. If the houses and trees weren't there it would give amazing aerial view of railway.

Thanks to this, I won't be posting on here anymore. Shame others have to ruin it for the rest of forum members with their stupidity and negativity.

The guy was a bit before your time Tony. It was meant to be humorous.
I know you have said you would leave once before but you do need a sense of humour and possibly a thick skin on internet fora. Everyone here sees life in a slightly different way - some more so than others.;)

  19. Thanks Ian. The CME kindly sent me a revised spreadsheet yesterday and the roster page has been updated. Corrections always welcomed!

Come on and get a life, as when I read your post about the houses weren't there you could see the station I thought about the same song before it got posted on here. Jokes and banters like this help to keep us volunteers going.
