What a great day for mainline steam. No problems and NO DIESELS TAGGED ON THE BACK!

the shortest thread ever on a ML steam excursion - why?
as usual it ran all OK, on time as booked, no box on the back, and with an amazing steam loco and crew on the front - simples,

shame she could not have been taken down from SL to Bristol for the Torbay EXP to Devon on Sunday. would have been a treat yesterday

yet again another summer in the South sees only Tornado and 34046/52 that can deliver big loco reliability which is essential on the big railway - so cruel that Tornado was denied lost trips the other week due to a 'computer error'
laughable, but it was not actually funny at all and cost/lost revenue all round

also weird SD ran a tour with Braunton needing 2 diesels taken with her to mess about with it - why not keep a trip simple - and punters happy? Braunton is a fabulous engine that can perform so why mess?
