I didn't say that. Whatever the speed is that's shown on the RTT software, and it's usually 60 mph, the type of rolling stock is irrelevant.

At least your calling it by its proper name,
look at it this way cheaper fare diesel tagged on rear, or more expensive and the diesel follows your choice.

In all seriousness Tom, I think it's a fair gone conclusion that you are an avid follower of diesels.

Why you follow websites discussing steam operations around the country I really don't know.

It's a similar case to me joining a discussion group such as UK-RAIL, WNXX or South West Rail Gen and moaning about diesel locomotives. It wouldn't go down too well. ;)

Accept the fact that the majority of the members of this group are steam enthusiasts and therefore would prefer not to see a diesel in the consist of their train.

If you can't accept this perhaps you would be happier joining one of the diesel groups that I mentioned above.

Unfortunately at times you come across as a very angry young man. Try to be more tolerant of other people's opinions and feelings .....or end up later in life as one very grumpy old man. :( <BJ>

Here here. In the beginning this banter was quite entertaining and at time annoying for many of us because here was am avid diesel man having the audacity to infiltrate into our precious world of steam. Sorry Tom, I agree with free2grice that the time has come for you to catch the next diesel hauled tour into the sunset. You changed your 34098 logo but not your attitude. If your intention was to ruffle the feathers of the steam fans, you succeeded but no more. We will miss you, but time for you to move on to DIESEL FORUMS of which there are many, I am sure. My last response to one of your postings was to provide the cutter's torch for a parked up Class 37. That offer still stands should you ever need it.

I'm sat at Gatcombe, and there's not been a single train passing in the last hour or so...

It looks like events at Cardiff has meant a prolonged hiatus at Gloucester. The Crosss Country service to the same is also delayed across from 1Z52 (RTT).

This is being reported down in Cardiff; some poor soul went under a train in Cardiff Central (thoughts are with all concerned), although they're now reporting it as minor leg injuries on WalesOnline (no need for the video from the scene to be included on their website). Services between Newport and Cardiff postponed or cancelled.

Just had a text from Dad who is on board "Declared a failure. Going back diesel hauled via Severn Tunnel Route". No more info than that as I'm not up to speed on this trip.

Just confirmed 34052 failed at Gloucester with wheel flats. Train reversing and continuing to Cardiff now via Charfield and Severn Tunnel with 47746 which was on the back anyway

Also an issue with dragging brakes which apparently is now affecting 47746?

Has 34052 come off the train at Gloucester or still attached on the rear?

Assume it's come off? They are now underway with the 47 heading southwards towards Bristol Parkway

Wheel flats - did it make a sharp brake application and slide? I can't think of much else to cause that. 113 late at Standish Junction according to RTT.
