Did I read somewhere that there are plans to re-work the track layout at Sheringham, so that it is double track as far as the level crossing gates?

There are plans to rework track at Sheringham soon, but the initial alterations are planned for the West (Weybourne) end of the station rather than the East (crossing) end. Having said that I have noticed the new TIC building has been built with a rather convenient gap where the second track "should" be :)

Are the alterations so that Platform 2 at Sheringham can be extended westward?

I think it's to create a more flexible layout for shunting the platform roads and the saints within station limits. Things might have changed though.

Good to see the new TIC building is now finished. Sheringham station has changed so much in the last ten years.

All they need now is the platform canopy on platform 2 that were demolished by British Railways.

As the B12 and J15 were both shedded at Norwich during their BR careers would be great if they could go back for a visit one day.

What a railway, pardon the pun but really going places. But before going to Norwich please sort out the footbridge at Holt!

When both the MNR and the NNR get their turntables sorted and get the curve at Cromer sorted... Well could you imagine... ;);):):)

I'm sure the Holt footbridge will be one of the next things ticked off the 'to do' list. I am also looking forward to the day when there is a display shed for the out of use/awaiting overhaul locomotives.

Other than a couple of diesel locos there aren't any locos sat awaiting overhaul and anything else not in use is generally undergoing some kind of maintenance. A shed specifically for diesel overhaul & maintenance would be a useful addition as would another coaching / wagon stock shed. The big problems are yet again money and space.

I was under the impression that there were long term plans for a display shed. Even if none of the running fleet was awaiting overhaul, perhaps there could be scope to have a few static NRM locomotives on loan (the J17 springs to mind). Could certainly be another potential attraction at the Holt end of the line.

How big is the Holt Site? Would combining the proposed Turntable be doable with some sort of half roundhouse/display shed à la St Blazey? I do appreciate it would cost a bit of wedge.

Holt sit is not big enough for a display shed at the moment I think there are plans to buy more land for the display shed, museum and a new café building along with a bit of land for the foot bridge.
