UK steam indicates electric to Preston then steam with diesel on the rear to Carnforth. Presumably the diesel is on from Euston?

Load 11 with no diesel on arrival at Carnforth from Euston.

    37688 added at Carnforth. AN

And according to RT trains losing time ever since the 37 was hung on. 15 min down at Tebay.

A Trans Pennine went through about 10 mins before Leander at Low Gill. Not sure if it was late running, but probably a factor.

Pretty obvious the 'Routes with Significant Gradients' rules are being applied to the letter. 2 coaches too many for a Jubilee on Shap.

The TP was running 13 late from Wigan. All WCML trains behind it are 10+ late.

Well if nothing else there is consistency here. The Coast to Coast had Leander with 11 on plus a diesel, primarily to assist up to Cowburn. Same logic today with Shap. There you go. Roll on when WCRC can have a Class 8 operational in its fleet.

Be interesting to see if they leave the 37 at Carlisle. Not needed for the climb of Shap on the return as it's all less than 1 in 100.

No serious prospect of that....and there is no separate path shown either!

No records broken today except perhaps the wrong kind. Two hours Carlisle to Carnforth via a few loops I guess.

I take it as a sign that Mr. Beets wants his locomotive to perform whether it is with assistance or not. He goes by the rules

How interesting it would be to have a steam banker for the accent of Shap Summit. Authenticity and security all in one. Would add to the cost but what a sight...

Good to catch up with you (if briefly) today.

NR rules as outlined in HR being applied except if diesel is to power it should be in the front

A 'blurred line' interpretation there I think. Either way, with looping of the charter in each direction yesterday - did it really take two hours to get from Carlisle to Carnforth? - it was not the day to be on the CME, diesel in the consist or not.
