Any news on plans for this and any possible guests to add to the home fleet?

Will more than likely be M7's last ASG, as she comes out of ticket next year.

The SR is pleased to announce that the first visiting guest for this year's Autumn Steam Gala will be ex-S&DJR 7F No.53809.

More details to be announced in due course; watch this space...!

53809 is going to be a busy loco in October, it's also taking part in the Mid-Hants Autumn Gala.

Makes sense though, Low loader costs can be shared that way.

A nice combo with the Spamcan and a super train with 10 on in the evening path perhaps?

My apologies, Steve. My post above must have implied an element of doubt which it wasn't meant to. Good that this is to be included again. It was the icing on the cake on what was a really brilliant Spring gala.

Basically the same timetable I think?

With the 7F announced, and 30053, 31806 and 34070 onsite there's the makings of a fun gala!

Good choice in the 8F, a Southern loco of sorts, that's enough for me to attend! Any chance of the Q sometime before it loses it's BR livery, please!

Absolutely. I was hoping that someone would bring 48624 down as it was built by the SR (Ashford, I think). The River Frome running is a sufficient reason by itself for a visit, but thrown in these two LMS 2-8-0s and it looks to be a really good event.

It has been a real LMS takeover of the Southern this year - Galatea and Scots Gaurdsman on the main line, with both Lizzie and the Riley "Fives" to follow, while both Swanage and the Watercress line are featuring LMS visitors for theit galas. (not to mention 45379, which is based on the line anyway) Even the Isle of Wight line has sort of got in on the act as 41298 was designed by Ivatt and built at Derby even if it didn't emerge until the BR era and onlv ever allocated to SR sheds.

Is 31874 due to return to steam at this event, or is she not ready yet.

Judging by pictures and reports on: http://swanagemoguls.com/ then no, she is not ready yet.
Apparently 31625 will be journeying to appear again at The Great Dorset Steam Fair (25 - 29 August) as one of the heavy haulage arena displays.
