    A few updates:
The SVR charitable trust has won £75k in a DfT competition with the aim to improve disabled access on the SVR's trains http://svrtrust.org.uk/news/latest-news.html
It appears after discussing with others that the plan is roughly for the double saloon brake in set C (80776) to be converted to a disabled dining coach and then a mark 1 TSo to be converted (in a similar way to the coach in set M) to replace 80776 in set C.

Elsewhere, 5043 has been transferred from the 2857 society to the GW(SVR)A with the view for it to be converted to dual buffet/disabled saloon. This will mean all sets have a disabled saloon and will allow the mark 1 buffet in GW2 to be removed (hopefully for it to be a spare in case a buffet requires work). Note this scheme is not related to the above SVRCT one.

24506 (the former pigeon van) is near to entering traffic. It had a little run to Bewdley today as a test.
Here's a couple of photos from the other day with it out in the open at Kidderminster:

Sometime soon as all of the teaks are getting the treatment. However, it won't be till after FS's visit as all 9 teaks are planned to be used and it depends which order they are being done in (hopefully after Christmas as two brakes are a must).

Just a quick question but why did the GW paint parts of the bogies that particular shade of blue?

It's the axlebox covers and spring hangers. The story I've heard is that it gives an indication of mileage/time since last overhaul.

I think so. Of course mileage and speed was higher in GWR/BR days so it was more indictive of use/wear than it is now.

I believe it was due to the bearing design and lubrication to be used - the blue axleboxes being a more modern design.

Going back into the mists of time, was this the coach that had its body rolled off one chassis onto another, after a swop of some sort with the GCR ?
Just cannot recall the actual details now, they wanted a better body, the SVR wanted a better chassis....or something different....?

Thanks. A three-way deal. What a superb restoration at the end of it all. Much credit to the people involved.

So it's done then. 70442 was in fact unique, and now it's gone. Ah well.
When I say it was unique, this was as a steel-clad example of that particular diagram of pigeon van, as the one which replaced it on the GCR is to a different diagram. Having had a look at the pair the only difference I could see was that the end plates quoted a different body width. So you could argue how important this uniqueness was. Still, can't keep 'em all, but a bit of a shame nonetheless.
Glad to see someone appreciated me finding the original number under the later paint. That cleared up a mystery as previously two different 'original numbers' had been reported.

SVRLive has been updated with several news items in the last few days, including 2426 and 52255. It's intended to use this site more from now on.
