Steam On The Met 2016 - 10&11 Sep. Cancelled

Members of the London Transport Museum Patrons Circle can get a steam run between Ruislip and Ealing Common in the summer. The date for this trip has not yet been announced.

For those interested, the cost of joining the London Transport Museum Patrons Circle is £2000 per year.

I assume that the train would otherwise run as a empty stock movement from Ruislip Depot to Ealing Common Depot or LTM Acton, before/between/after the main Steam On The Underground runs.

Update 17/12/15: The article about the Dean Forest/Flour Mill Gala in the latest Heritage Railway Magazine says that L150 and Met 1 won't be there as they are currently pencilled in for Steam On The Underground runs.

Update 11/3/16: The latest Heritage Railway Magazine states that steam trains will operate between Ealing Broadway and High Street Kensington on the 9th and 10th July. The trains will be top and tailed by Met 1 and L150, with electric loco Sarah Siddons assisting. The coaches will be the Metropolitan coaches from the Bluebell Railway and London Transport Museum.

Update 7/4/16: The steam run is not on the current list of Patrons Circle events.

Update 7/4/16 no. 2: Reported due to repair work being carried out on the Chesham Set the Distric Line runs have been cancelled.

Update 8/4/16: Reported that steam trains could (subject to the go ahead being given) run between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham with the 4TC set, on 10 & 11 September.

At that price, I'd hope that the steam ride is buckshee! I'm not likely to get the chance to find out, but it could make an interesting photo.

The steam trip for the LTM Patrons Circle is no longer listed on the Patrons Circle events list, although the preceding bus trip is still listed.

 

The latest Heritage Railway states that since work is being carried out on the Metropolitan coaches, which means they will be out of service until the end of the year, the runs on the 9th and 10th July have been cancelled.

 

Thanks for that. Hopefully they can run some trains on the Metropolitan Line with the 4TC later in the year.

 

I ,ve heard that the Bluebell coaches won' be available for this year due to repairs.

 

Were these the only LU Steam Trips planned for 2016? Or is there potential for some other tours later in the year?

 

They were, but they are planning some on 10th and 11th September between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham with the 4TC set, but are awaiting the final go ahead according to HR.

According to the latest Heritage Railway Magazine, the train will be formed of: Met 1, L150, a class 20, the 4TC set, 353 and a class 20.

Is there something wrong with Sarah Siddons?

 

There was talk about it needing a programme lift, perhaps that has now become a requirement. With the 38TS currently receiving attention at Acton Works there can't be much free resource available to work on No. 12.

According to the booking pages on the Transport Museum website:

Run 1: 10:23 off Wembley Park, 11:14 arriving at Amersham
Run 2: 11:42 off Amersham, to return 12:50
Run 3: 13:42 off Amersham, to return 14:50
Run 4: 15:26 off Amersham, 15:55 arriving at Harrow on the Hill

As for ECS runs, I would expect the outward to be the same as it was in 2013 and 2014, with departure from Ruislip depot at 09:05, Harrow on the Hill 09:46, stopping at Wembley Park at just before 10:00 before reversing in Neasden depot and returning to Wembley Park at 10:22. No idea for the return though, I'm afraid.
