The timings are up for this. No indication what's happening to the diesels at BTM.

Living in Bristol the sort of trip I used to jump at. But confidence is so so low to actually make a booking.

Any info as to whether diesel(s) will be left behind in Bristol? If 100% steam I'll try a late booking or pay on the day.

If not I'll see it from my back window, and watch the Tour of Britain cycling instead!

First time I have seen steam booked into P3 at Shrewsbury - I thought that was a no-go?

There's no mention on the Steam Dreams website that the train doesn't return to Paddington how are those of us traveling from there meant to get Home?

Same here on the P3 arrival. The first manoeuvre at Shrewsbury, forward to Crewe Jn SB and then a drag or propel back into P4 suggests there might be a diesel on the back but not definite. No light engine moves have appeared at BTM but they haven't been of late. Probably going to turn up on the station and try a pay on the day if it is Lizzie on a proper steam run.

I've been able to answer my own question, Steam Dreams will be providing tickets from Slough to Paddington for those travelling to there

On the diesel front, it appears only one diesel will be on the train from Paddington. This is on OTT:
    http://www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/U10889/2016-09-10
and shows the lead diesel returning to Southall.

Wonder if WCRC consider a diesel at BTM is acceptable as a rescue diesel for Saturday?

Steam Dreams have advised me that a diesel will remain attached after Bristol and will assist if necessary :(

B*****"*. Thanks for saving me a trip to BTM Sean. I wonder when Lizzie will actually do her proper 'inaugural' steam hauled train?

Probably when she is not attached to a rake of coaches used by Steam Dreams. But credit to SD for answering the question honestly when asked....and, of course, when they know what the arrangements will be.

Perhaps you should consider chartering your own train? That way you could negotiate you requirements directly with your prefered TOC???

There is a less challenging alternative: book a tour that's being run in conjunction with the preferred TOC.

Just crept into Bristol TM - couple of mins late, with just a support coach in tow, came onto the Up Through - booked into SPM Depot, pushing back in from the Bedminster end after passing through BTM.

    Looked superb.

The move saves the loco having to be turned on the triangle. Tomorrow the loco will continue tender first out of the depot to Bristol TM.

For those passengers intending to join the train at Bristol TM.

    Road closures :
With the Tour of Britain cycle race taking centre stage around the city, a number of roads around The Downs, the Avon Gorge and the Cumberland Basin will be closed for some or all of the day. This includes the Clifton Suspension Bridge, large sections of the Portway and the entire length of Cumberland Road, all of which will be closed from 5am to 8pm on Saturday 10 September 2016.

The stock has arrived safely at Paddington and on time with a brush at each end

Away bang on time. It's been a while since I've had 47 haulage from Paddington. (I know this won't be approved by all on here but the diesel haulage to and from Bristol was one of the things that attracted me to today's trip)

I have touched on this issue in my column if the HR due out on 22nd September, without naming names. Full story of 60163's flight from Grantham to Stevenage plus another plea for 90 mph running with appropriate locos.
