On Sunday 27 November 2016, at Bishops Lydeard, we will be running an Operations Volunteers Recruitment Day.

This will be aimed particularly at signalmen and guards. Current members of the department will be on hand to demonstrate what we do and to explain the training regimes. There will be opportunities to 'get your hands dirty'.

Path for Victoria to lydeard on Tuesday 27th. railtour??

 

DB Schenker Management train, class 67 + Mk 3 coaches, ie not a railtour! I understand it is continuing to Williton.

 

When's the ECS for D1010 back to wiliton

 

The coaches do not go back to Williton, D1010 goes light engine at 1710 from BL. By the way, an occasional please and thank you wouldn't go amiss!

So I go out to see D1010, realise I've forgotten wallet, go home and pop in shop on way to WSR and win £50 on lotto scratch card... That's the 3day WSR gala ticket paid for.

 

I understand the Minehead Signal Box webcam http://www.wsr.org.uk/r-cam-md1.htm will be offline on Wed 28 Sep 2016 for a short time due to installation of fibre broadband. The faster upload speed will improve picture quality.

Here is the Press Release and accompanying photos for the WSR Operations Volunteers Recruitment Day on 27 November at Bishops Lydeard.

We have an interesting day planned, which should give those considering training as WSR Guards or Signalmen a real taste of the job.

I would be very grateful if the attached could achieve wide circulation. Please feel free to repost it anywhere else on social media that seems sensible, or to pass it on to anyone who might be interested.

It's one temptation that will do you good if you give in to it! At the end of the day, if you decide it's not for you, no-one will mind, and you will have had a good day out!

 

Must be something in it, I have been a Guard for 22 years!
This is a great opportunity to see what is involved and see if it is something you would be interetsed in, also as Ian says its a good day out!

 

We are working hard to make it a very good day out, but as it is really for those thinking about engaging with the serious, but seriously rewarding, business of qualifying as a guard or signalman, we don't want to say so toooooo publicly..........oops!
