Tyseley, they pay attention to everything and if they can get 3 castles running with quality results like what they do with 5043 than all the power to them. So getting 5080 into the shops soon would be really good because I hear they have room.

Did the GWR adopt a Wartime Black livery ? or was that beneath them.

Agreed. Paint the rest of the GWR fleet blue to match. ;)

OK Who's going to start a FB page for a new build 102 "La France" just to get GWR express loco black livery? :) :) :)

And a pity the County Tank suggestion didn't go anywhere either as IIRC one was crimson lake for a while.

Could always have one of the Castles in the experimental apple green livery to go alongside 6023. (Although probably better not - can you imagine how many normals would think they'd seen Flying Scotsman!).

I've just had this strange image of Pendennis Castle in apple green next to Flying Scotsman in its middle chrome (ish) green.

It does occur to me, now that both the Kings have been chopped down, that there's no rational argument for saying they must be presented in BR Livery, since they are completely inauthentic anyway, so no one paint scheme is any more authentic than another. I wonder if they could get a big sponsorship cheque for gWr llivery...

Difficult to understand what Tyseley's thinking is. Vintage Trains' fleet does not seem to be over-worked, another Castle will not offer any greater route availability, and they seem to have lost interest in a previous project (Bloomer). They seem to be doing OK in terms of getting third party overhaul work so they don't appear to need this to artificially create throughput for the works. Strange.

.....but the website page mentions that restorin Defiant would "enable us to grow our activities". Maybe here is a plan to run more trains? I am sure that several years ago, I read an interview with someone connected with Tyseley who talked about a series of trains to Worcester as well as the Stratford workings. Obviously, plans do change over time. Maybe Ben will enlighten us.

there must be a huge market for railtours of the non-enthusiast type. Here in Ireland we have two rival trains operating costing €5000+ for a week and both were in Killarney at the same time last Wednesday. Who'd have thought it!
