The M&GN society's members day is on Saturday. The plan is to have the B12, Y14, Wissington, class 31 and the 37 all in operation. I think the vintage train, quads and subs are all in operation too. The B12 is on washout this week, and the Y14 has been in traffic since Sunday. The plan is to run the 9f from tomorrow until members day.

North Norfolk Railway's September Cromer dining train (the exit from Cromer station is particularly impressive, I think)...

About 5 years ago the SVR did a decent 1960's weekend, the highlight for me was coming into Kiddy with 20059 and 46443, the 20 doing all the work and just being able to hear Baba O'Reilly by a Who tribute band! As the regards the 1940's weekend the big dilemma is what to do? If you try reigning it in then you get the inevitable complaints about 'it's not like it used to be' some careful consideration is to be taken about the next move in how to organise next years event, would there be any chance of maybe being able to use the Car park in Sheringham for anything?

P1190845a.jpg The North Norfolk Railway already have 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and ghost themed Murder Mystery dining trains. The train on the 1st October was a 1950s themed evening hauled by 8572, as usual this was full, with most of the passengers suitably dressed. The B12 is shown here at 1830hrs, waiting to leave Sheringham with the Murder Mystery train last Saturday.

Thank you. I was a little disappointed last Saturday to realise I had misread the previous blog and members weren't to be allowed access to Bridge Road carriage sheds :( Oh well. I enjoyed the Weybourne shed tour and my first ride in the picnic saloon as well as my first behind a (well behaving) Y14. In short I had a lovely time. Great work lads. looking forward to seeing the GER 4 wheeler outshopped and the bogie (I hope that's next) in for a (first class) restoration

9f and Class 37 out today (Saturday the 29th), tomorrow should be the 9f and DMU to end the daily running season.

Ring Haw has worked consistently over the last week or so with minor problems - hopefully we're over the injector problems that have plagued the engine over this season.

Good to see in the latest Melton Constable trust newsletter that they are going to shortly lay some track the other side of the road towards Holt. That will hopefully encourage more support. They also need to raise £6000 by year end for a land purchase on the Holt section.

I take it that the track laid will be temporary, for publicity purposes?

It suggests as such, but they have also put 500 tonnes of spoil into the potential alignment and the army will be cutting down some trees to open the area up (as an exercise), so clearly that is work that will contribute to its eventual permanent reinstatement. It says that they now want to appear that they are "in Business"

If the Melton Constable Trust does achieve it's aims of building a line from the Holt NNR station in to Holt town centre, it makes me wonder how running Network rail trains over the NNR will affect steam services.
