    Lewes-Bristol (WCRC) [wcrc]

    Thanks to Uksteam.

Possibly a sign of the public showing their displeasure of Steam Dreams railtours being pushed around all day by a diesel. <BJ>

Actually, no. This job never got to the bid stage, as no workable paths were available.

    Thanks for the explanation JS.

Presumably 13 weeks prior to the train running Steam Dreams advised NR that they would like to run a train to Bristol .

Then after advertising the train until a week before the tour was due to run they cancel it because no paths are available.

Somewhere along the line (no pun intended) there appears to have been a breakdown in communication. <BJ>

I don't believe that SD negotiates directly with NR. The proposal goes to the TOC and it is responsible for doing all the work. But I do agree that the TOC wouldn't advise the operator to publicise a trip if they had a pretty good idea that it was a non starter from the outset as seems to be the case. So I don't see why it took so long for SD to pull the plug on it.

The tour hasn't been on Steam Dreams' website for a number of months, I'm sure they would have communicated with all the parties that matter (i.e. the intending passengers) at the time.

And was not listed in the latest brochure, which had trips from the 10th September onwards.

So perhaps apologies from @free2grice who inadvertently has set a hare running when probably both SD and WCRC did the right thing? As long as we don't then moan at @gwr4090, who of course, only responds to messages he may be sent about tours when they are cancelled.
