As an aside I recently was given a print of tornado, still roled up in its tube! Drawing of her leaving a station with an overall roof. I have in mind that when she was being built it was done to raise funds?

My mistake it's actually 60147 North Eastern at Top Bank!

I am sure I got one of these when I signed up at the works ages ago.

It was part of the attraction of joining, no idea where it is now.

Don't think that's right either. Not Top Bank or even Bank Top. Mine is Stockton.

I seem to recall that a lot of effort has gone into the Trust's present support coach. Will that become redundant when the new Mk3 support coach is ready?

Apropos liveries; please, please not scumbled to look like teak. The set used by the LT Museum for Steam on the Met looks hideous.

If you mean the 4TC set, it's a vinyl cover. But yes, I'd rather go for either Blood and custard or Maroon.

I'm not sure if trust members will get a vote but to look good with the locos my preference would be the LNER tourist livery of apple green and cream.

Either way, not red/cream or maroon IMV. We're super-served with that already with existing Mk. 1 stock.

I'm sure the teak look could be made to look as good as it did in the Thompson era without looking like someone's got a bulk deal on Fablon, but whilst the Coronation/Silver Jubilee liveries would look spiffing behind an A4, perhaps the best overall compromise is what you suggest - the tourist livery? (although that in itself is a bit English Electric house colours ;))

Ref existing support coach - the P2 will be needing one :)

The livery did look OK on the Mk1s behind the Apple green K1 in the early days of the Mallaig steam service.

Scumbled teak. Best choice. It's applicable to the A1 and the P2 and will look smart.

Don't think it will look as smart on such a featureless body, but it will keep its looks under a bit of muck, the cream shows the smuts pretty sharpish... White Roof anyone ?

It's not really scumbling though - more graining, I'd have thought. And as I've said before, my personal preference is for 'teak' - John's suggestion of the 'tourist livery' is also acceptable. But no more red/cream or maroon, ta.

I accept that vinyls would probably be the most cost effective way to go. But the Thompson coach recently restored and released for work on the NYMR shows what a real scumbled finish can look like.

Teak platform side, excursion stock the other ? Not Maroon - it weathers badly (though if its a vinyl perhaps it wouldn't) and its Boring.

Not quite, there is no argument because none of the liveries proposed are correct
