Whats going to happen about the 7f? will she stay at ropley be repaired and maybe see some use ? or will she return to her home base, and the railways involved will have to come to some agreement over her non availibility what happens when on loan locos are not able to be used after all a hire fee will have been paid?

More to the point are the transportation costs, the Mid Hants are around £8k down for the transporter fees to and from the railway for a locomotive they could not use.

Surely if they couldn't fix the issue over Friday for use over the weekend then it won't be fixed for the charter.

My footage from Friday and Saturday. While Royal Scot was the main reason I wanted to go, the highlight for me has to be the Pines Express run through Ropley on the Friday, an utterly awesome spectacle.

Here is a low res version of my favourite photo from this excellent event. We waited around at the end of the day for 43106 to return from Alresford and the conditions were perfect as she rolled round the bend.
    Very pleased with the shot.:)

Thanks Andy. It's my pleasure. This was an unexpected bonus at the end of a great day.

Good question. There needs to be a fair share of the risk. The simple fact of the loco being advertised and it arriving on the line will have helped to persuade folks to visit, so it has helped swell the offers a little. I know of one example where the railway (not the MHR) paid the movement cost and agreed a mileage fee for the loco. In the event, the loco had problems and only worked half the rostered turns, so only got half the appearance fee. I don't know whether that's typical or not. Most loco owners and gala promoters keep such details confidential, understandably.

That's the end of another MHR gala. Ashame about the 7f failing but these things happen but all in all still a great gala. Just wonder what Colin has up his sleeve for next years Spring gala.

Anyone know if 46100 is still leaving the MHR tomorrow after her problems at the Gala yesterday? My Dad is going out to see her in the morning and wondered if she required any further inspection/repair work before heading back on to the ML.

No, last night - Friday I was on my way to the chippie in Four Marks, heading up the Soke as 46100 went the other way - would've made a stunning image, regardless of tender first!

Anyway, a couple from me from Friday, that I'm happy with......

I believe so, yes. I was still at Ropley when they were doing the FTR and it appeared to be going well... that being said, I'm not saying anything officially! A shame, I wanted the MHR to keep her*! ;)

My first visit to the mid Hants and won't be my last. That is how a gala should be never a dull moment an excellent show. 43106 on the freight through Ropley today (Sunday) and traveling on the pines express bloody superb.
Big thanks to all involved from me and my son for an excellent day out.
