Very nice. Sadly I was too young to be around for the photo charters with 55189 in black so would be very interested to see any other shots you have! Hoping to organise a couple of charters with 419 on the Caley coaches once she's finished following the success of my previous events at Strathspey with 46512 and Bo'ness with 62712!

I started my "career" on her back in 1974 as a Falkirk Wean armed with a bucket and a rag.

    happy days

'too young'! and it was only 7 years ago.
Here's a few more from the three days of charters run by Richard Newton (3P20) on 27th February to 1st March 2009.

And for @Snifter one from 1972 ( think I qualified as 'too young' back then ) - a few trips on 419 up and down the yard at Grahamston and I didn't need any more convincing to become an SRPS member.

Although I think it's been done before, I'll look forward to the charters with the Caley coaches, it's a near perfect combination.

Thank you Scott, I can almost hear the Westinghouse pump lazily keeping the reservoir topped up. Happy days at Springfield yard, Wallace Street.

I do love the sound of a Westo pump. Always makes me think of Liverpool St on a murky day.

419-ex works .jpg Photo courtesy of our very own Nat-Pres & SRPS member @jonathonag but 419 has finally been rolled out of the shops after an overhaul lasting nearly a decade. Steam test next week if all goes to plan before being launched at our "Caledonian Reunion" gala in November!

I've never been up to Bo'ness before. What chance is there of getting pics of the laid up engines during the gala? I know that some sheds are off limits, but are there engines stored in the open?

Fantastic. What a wonderful sight. Lovely to see that glorious blue livery with the appropriate carriages behind.

The November Gala will be best chance to photograph most of the engines on site. Whilst sheds will unfortunately not be open (the walking route to the running shed crosses the main loop in Bo'ness station and it has been deemed unsafe to bring groups across during a busy gala) almost everything will be out. The exceptions will be 80105 (under major overhaul) and Austerity No. 7 (recently failed). Almost every other engine on site is photographable from public walking routes around the site - with the exception of two Austerities (No.17 and No.5) - or are stored safely in the Museum of Scottish Railways.

Hope this is of some help. If you are at the Gala make yourself known to a volunteer and if there is something you are desperate to see they may be able to help - no guarantees whatsoever on this though.
