A very fitting celebration of the foresight and hard work by the NELPG over 50 years. Fingers crossed that the 4 all perform well over the weekend.

Because you can't have a gala thread without someone asking (and it does pull the thread to the top of the forum!), anyone know which way the locos are/will be facing please?

    All locos face Pickering

Until the Sunday when Q6 & K1 are turned

This should mean that the Q6 and K1 are boiler first on 1500, 1605 ex Pickering

I understand the Q6 failed yesterday. Does anybody have insight into the problem and whether it can be resolved in time?

Don't know about yesterday, as it wasn't on the roster. That is because it failed with a broken spring on Monday and 80136 was substituted yesterday . Should have been changed by now.

According to the latest timetable published it shows that 69023 also double heads with 76084 on the 16.35 Grosmont - Pickering. Just checking is that correct? Thanks

Pity he or she who does website is missing this week. Since the website revamp the daily update on locos has been a great help. Until this week when all stopped on Tuesday! Then page on the NELPG Gala suggests 'More information soon'. Cutting it a bit fine aren't we? So, I'm going with what NELPG suggests for now, there being minimal NYMR gen on this w/e.

Actually on my way north now and I see webcam shows D7628 in use which seems unexpected. To Whitby I presume? Sad the gen machine is a black hole for this w/e.

Adding to above, I see the NELPG site was updated yesterday, which I've only just spotted. Need to cross check with my printouts with limited Wi-Fi. Eek!

The allocations appear to be on the website today, but were not Wednesday and Thursday! I would imagine the use of D7628 instead of 76084 is to try and prepare this weekends locos as much as possible so they can keep to their allocated diagrams.

Yes, they appeared shortly after my post - it worked!

Alas A169 is gridlocked so my bus is getting nowhere from Malton. I've had some heroic dashes this year between bus/train but always made the NYMR train I was aiming for. My last journey of 2016 and it goes wrong on the last leg. I wonder if I make 13oo Pickering at this rate; no hope for 1200.

I expect this is to get Joem through to New Bridge for its journey back to the Wensleydale next week.

I think 76084 was a close one and I thought D7628 was going to continue to Pickering, but I'm assured 76084 has worked - very late. I was heading to Whitby so didn't see the Pickering train leave - it was engineless with the 25 hovering! So all looks good for Saturday.

76079 is facing into Whitby. Pity it was more or less dark getting there tonight and of no help for this w/e.

In the Waiting Room (Whitby) and checking NYMR data that is now there. One change not on NELPG is 1635 Sunday - 6046 + 69023. My goodness.

Today's highlight was sitting in the buffet on the teak set supping a beverage, watching the Q6 around the curves. And reflecting that at my age will I see 63395 working again after this w/e? But NELPG does deliver miracles. Thanks to them for what they have delivered over the last 50 years - magic!

(The Durham Black Bishop 4.1% is in superb condition, as are all the beers in the Waiting Room!)

So just to be clear - on Sunday 69023 is longer piloting 62005 from Grosmont to Goathland at 14.40 and returning with 63395 before piloting 6046 to Pickering at 16.35.
