Well I know the years are going fast, but I don't think 2107 will be here for 90 years :Saywhat:

Pity about 4160. It was always a pleasure to work on when I was a fireman. If 4110 is as good , the railway will have an excellent loco.

Thinking about it, how about a 'Steampunk' event??

A Preserved railway is a fairly obvious location, we have had a Steampunk Event in Frome, it would need events in Minehead and perhaps the surrounding towns and villages so there is lots in it for everyone................

The Middleton Railway held a Steampunk event in 2016 which was very successful for our small operation. Being repeated this year. I was on holiday so can't comment too much on it.

Many of the stalwarts of the Bristol/Chepstow steampunk scene are also fond of trains (at least one is a member on here). However they can sometimes be cynical of people who seem to be jumping on a bandwagon to promote themselves, rather than events that grow organically from within the steampunk scene itself.

Also it would not be a replacement for "T the T" much as the WSR might wish to join the ranks of those who who have already given the soldier's farewell to Mattel or their various predecessors.

Incidentally I understand that the "T the T" range of goods is to be amended. I hope this does not mean too many places are lumbered with a lot of soon to be obsolete goods.

Unlikely, in my opinion. Over the last few years our Museum Store has tried Chuffington & a couple of other similar ranges, but it's always Thomas that SELLS.
Since I was brought up on, & still have, the first edition Thomas books, I'm frankly amazed that he continues to be as successful as he is after all these years.

As for the WSR, it's probably time to say TTFN to TTTE.

Not quite what I was getting at I am afraid. It was to do with "planned obsolescence" being brought into the various sales items requiring "obsolete" lines to be discounted.. If the back stock is small, then little problem.

As long as the items sell with a decent margin then fine but if similar tactics get employed with the sales lines as with the events then it would be time to say farewell to those as well.

Issue number 155 of the WSR Journal Winter 2016/2017 dropped through my letterbox this morning. Good reading for later no doubt. Well done the editor and his team.

I see the 2017 timetable is now on the WSR Plc site - quite a change form 2016 !
I also read that 2 Manors will be visiting in 2017
while 7828 is not very well.

On a subject dear to my heart, in previous years the published timetable has always included some Heritage Diesel Locomotive Operation during the Summer.
But it will be interesting to see how/if this can be accommodated within the 2017 timetable as it stands.
On Saturdays during the peak season there is no booked diesel diagram and on Sunday one turn terminates at Doniford during the afternoon shuttle, a bit challenging if loco hauled!

I've heard about 7820 visiting - what's the second Manor?

You've a choice of two... 7822 or 7802. 7812 is due out of traffic in April, even though there's the possibility of an extension to October I'd say she's an unlikely traveller.

Exactly the same dates the the latest WSR Journal says 7820 is visiting! So are both coming at the same time, or is it a misprint in one of the publications?

    Both - don't forget 7828, 4936 & 9351 are effectively out of it for 2017.

  19. We're planning a Heritage Diesel-hauled Quantock Belle on Sunday 20th August. But will D7018 be brave enough to cover the diagram? D&EPG day out perhaps?
