I was merely taking my cue from the views I so often read on here.:(. Disgruntled may be a little harsh but I am pretty certain that their happiness would have increased manifold had there been no assistance.:)

Be that as it may, the general point raised by John is a valid one. At some point a commercial decision is taken which has the potential to affect purchasing choices yet only one party to the transaction has the luxury of knowing the full facts.
As to the overheads, it seems reasonable to estimate 90%+ of RTCs costs come solely from the TOC so ought to create a better negotiating position?

Were you perchance working on either of the tours, as you ought to declare your conflict of interest as someone who works for RTC...

Yes indeed. So to square the circle, those who had already purchased should have had the option to cancel with a simple communication " we have increased the load to accommodate more passengers and the tour will now be diesel assisted."

    Unarguable.
Perhaps RTC asks no questions so can “honestly” claim the diesel is an "unexpected eventuality" on the day?

I don't see why I should declare a conflict of interests as I do not 'work' for RTC as in, receive no remuneration for my troubles, like getting harangued at stations by the odd disgruntled individual.

Well on 21st they weren't all full as they were able to move passengers to the warmer coaches where there were empty seats

Fence posts removed-- good. How about the transparency posts? The photos and discussion of the run can stay!

Returning to the main theme of this thread, which after all appears to have been a very successful trip and a credit to all involved, here's a shot from the day of 46115 crossing Eskmeals viaduct[IMG]
