When I looked last night there were just over 200 seats ( in total for all classes) available.

Not a great start to the railtouring year. Speaking purely for myself, my first trip will be March 1 at this rate, and can see myself transferring to the Coast to Coast if this one gets caped. Not really interested in the Tin Bath this year.

The Tin Bath have even more seats still available, so I can see it getting caped.

RTC did run the Welsh Mountaineer with Scots Guardsman last year with poor bookings and a lighter load as a result. It was probably the tour of the year.

Earlier post indicated most space was in Premier and that First and Standard were filling. Tough decision on two tours, BSE and TB. With a CME already in the dust, potential reputation issues arise. If TB is so light then maybe people would consolidate on BSE?

The train was sold out as it was restricted to around six carriages because of the route. I and several others on here were lucky to get on it (the stars aligned for a mid-week day off).

So we know that six carriages makes profit then...

It was cross-subsidised by a multi-day tour around Snowdonia.

Ah. I stand corrected. Well jealous that you made it.

Can't decide whether it's the result of a good Malbec or not, but has the motive power for the 25th changed. I seem to recall it being Leander and the Standard 4. RTC website now says 45407 and 76084. Not an issue just curious.

An uninformed guess but it wouldn't be a surprise if a Jubilee were out of gauge.

I wouldn't be surprised, either, but not too much in the way of complaint. Probably on the Whaley Bridge section, as there appears to be a couple of platforms to negotiate when compared with the Peak Forest section. Unless another part of the route has decided to form a closer bond with a bridge, or summat.

Shame 44932 is not available then it could have been a Horwich Double Header with 76084.

Indeed it would. Had the pleasure of riding behind at the ELR last year. If only mainline fit...

The dreaded diesel assistance symbol has popped up on steaminfo for this one. Hopefully an oversight.

With double head steam, and probably a lighter load than originally anticipated, why would a diesel be a reasonable addition? As long as WCRC have fixed the coaches, steam heat is good enough.

Or is steam coming off at Preston and Diesel returning to Manchester?

I've seen the same question asked about a Duchess with nine on. Double headed steam does not guarantee you pure steam nowadays.
