What is the status of "09"?

 

Stranraer rather than Oban.

 

Sorry senior moment __Oban it is.

 

I've been pondering whether to do a late booking for this and now I'm even more undecided than before. It was always obvious that some loco substitutions would be inevitable & on the whole the replacements seem a realistic selection given that 5029/6201 were out of the running.

Re the last two days as I would much prefer 6023 to either 34046 or 46100 (fine engines both but hardly appropriate for the GWR in Cornwall). The loss of Falmouth is likewise disappointing.

EDITED to reflect that RTC updated their website shortly after my original post and also confirmed Oban as still the destination for the optional day.

 

Is it going to Oban or Stranraer...?

Sadly it looks like you'll have to wait a bit longer, but hopefully not too much longer.

 

More to-the-point, perhaps: where do we think steam will start on Day 7 (Fri 5th May)? UKsteam.info says:

but RTC says "After an early transfer from your hotel to Grange over sands {sic} you travel on the Furness Railway line across the north shore of Morecombe Bay..." @gwr4090's info is possibly more up-to-date than the RTC web-site. Then again, steam might come on at Carnforth...

I'm reading 45690 on Friday to Bristol, the 46100 and 34046 to Cornwall and back to Bristol? Good line up but a shame there is no GW Castle at least on the Devon/Cornish legs.

I think that is natural to want a King and/or castle on GWR metals.
