Have you any links to these 'concerns being raised by locals' ? In all honesty I haven't seen or heard of any, or are 'the concerns' just a figment of your imagination?:)

Yawnnn. You predicted disaster but disaster never happened but can you bring yourself to admit that your fears were misplaced? Of course you can't, you just carry on bleating away. So if anyone's in a cocoon, it's you you old misery guts. Anyway, can't stop as I've something more interesting to do with my life than listen to your miserable nonsense.

Not sure where your last paragraph fits in.

On other media it was planned to run as seven coaches plus 67. Four coaches were to be reserved and three unreserved.

LATER there was an announcement that a fourth coach would be added and that additional DMU services would be scheduled to cover any shortfall.

That's the point I was making. NR and partners responded to concerns from sources other than here, made changes that made the difference. That is to their credit. They listened, acted and all went well.

I didn't predict disaster. I raised a concern (as did others on here) about the impact of enthusiasts on the locals.

    Original plan - Tornado + support + 7 + 67

Revised plan and execution - Tornado + support + 8 + 67. Back up 158s to avoid problems

Revised plan went well. Concerns alleviated. Great result due to providers listening and acting. Otherwise the 200 at Skipton on Wednesday would have been left behind.

    Q.E.D.

And when you have to resort to name calling, you have no argument - as usual....

Delighted it all went swimmingly, must confess I had some concerns but they were clouded somewhat by northern's normal inability to run anything resembling a railway service, perhaps they should pass more services up here over to steam and travelling with northern would become less of an adventurous lottery.

Glad it went well so they won't be inundated with delay repay claims, they are struggling enough as it is, got two in at the moment, their target for dealing is 10 days, in both cases its two months and counting so far!

As Doom-Monger-In-Chief I would like to just say how sorry I am for predicting .... nay hoping .... that the PlanDampf would be a disaster. It is quite wrong to spoil people's fun in this way, and it's quite clear that there was absolutely nothing to worry about.

    It won't happen again.

Now for an extra-large slice of humble pie.:Vomit:

    Thanks for the post.

For clarification, the class 67 was providing ETS only.

There was a 30 mph speed restriction for 60163 through the down platform at Horton in Ribblesdale which explains the easing through there. As regards the steward saying that dispensation had been given for the train to run at 70mph, the line speed - for all trains - is 60mph so this would never be have even been considered.

Just wondering whether anyone who travelled on the 10:44 on Wednesday might have any performance notes for comparison?

That last paragraph has a lot to do with the operations, in fact it is vital. The infrastructure is restrictive on that section of the network, despite the unusual mod of installing an automatic signal near Horton to allow 2x trains into what is in effect 1x absolute block. To try and run 4x trains within 30-mins, is equivalent to putting a 3-lane motorway into single file. To dismiss it so casually shows a complete lack of understanding I'm afraid.

    Thanks for the info.

I heard nothing from the 67 which led me to suspect it was doing anything other than ETS - but I couldn't know for certain hence the ?

The easing before Horton in R was just what the driver didn't want after a restart on the 1/100 at Settle and rain.

It was a steward from the Friends of the S&C who on seeing my GPS said that even though the line speed was 60, Tornado had been given special dispensation to run up to 70. He appeared knowledgeable and I don't think that it was a wind up - maybe someone "knows".

With regard to the dispensation to run at more than the line speed, I have no idea why the steward would give you that information, I don't doubt it was given in good faith but it was completely without substance.

I don't know if you've seen the PM I sent you a little earlier? There's a little more information contained in that.

    All the best.

Before this thread gets the chop..................does anybody have any idea when and where the next BRILLIANT EVENT will be, a repeat even of this one.............because I'll be there.

An idea..........when the line opens through to Carlisle, let's have a steam service this summer Leeds to Carlisle, one round trip per day, regular fares. Maybe then the poxy Pacers can be left parked at Neville Hill.
