    Good Morning

My name is Sandy Ross and I am the estate manager for Revack Lodge Estate just outside Grantown on Spey in the Scottish Highlands.

There is an old railway and station (Grantown East) that runs through the estate grounds and it is the intention of the owner to revive the decaying site and bring it back to its former glory and preserve it for the future.

The plan is to develop a Highland Cultural Heritage Centre with the Station building, platform and track being restored to form a visitor attraction along the tourist route.

The Station was closed in 1965 and we are looking for two carriages that can be renovated to form part of a static display.
Any offers or suggestions will be welcome.

    Many Thanks

    Sandy

The Winter 2015 issue of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society magazine also reported that the SRPS council are reviewing some items in the collection to reduce duplicates so may be worth following up.

It's ok everyone, the strathspey is extending to grantown WEST, there are two stations, I'm very pleased by the estates plans though, being that the station buildings are still there at grantown East and that due to the strathspey railways plans to Continue extending on the line to Forres rather than the actual strathspey line I doubt that any preservation activity would have taken place on this line (there is a missing bridge between boat of garden and grantown East just after the line branches off) apart from the Keith and Dufftown at the other end, so this is good news! I wish you all the best sandy!

West Coast Railways of Carnforth have a large stock of old coaches, looking on Google maps (terrain).

If u visit www.westcoasrailways.CO.UK and follow the link to 'parts sales' then 'rolling stock' there is an email address for a chap called P Richardson who may be able to help you..

Hi Sandy, I was travelling up to Aberlour yesterday, from Derbyshire for work and was surprised to see 2 (MkI ? ) coaches in the yard of the Grantown East station ? I hadn't been up here for awhile.

Looking on the 'net, I came across this thread, so now I understand more about what I saw.

    Good luck with your venture!

They look like EMU centre cars (possibly converted LHCS), so not the easiest to use in passenger service but ideal for this project, as basically Mark 1 profile.

  17. Former 4CEP TSOs, easy to identify from the hopper windows and boxes for MU connections on each end. Obviously from somewhere else in preservation, given the livery. Now a very long way from home...

A long shot, but it might be worth speaking to the National Railway Museum at York. They are reviewing their collection with a view to thinning it out, and might have some suitable Scottish items.

It might seem an obvious suggestion but have you been in touch with the GNoSRA?
