Really good clear videos of a good wknd. The sequence at 2 mins to 3 mins of Braunton at Corfe Viaduct is good..... even it has a different rake of coaches on the close up view! (And slightly better weather ☺)

Another video from me. Well, I say video, it's a soundtrack of 34092 tackling the 1 in 78 climb to Furzebrook with load five and 34052 at the reel.

    Enjoy!

Just got back from a stunning three days. All I can say is thank you to all involved for delivering such a cracker, a predominantly LMS man can't help his Bulleid Pacific soft spot! Don't know which one did it for me but 34070 sounded magnificent yesterday right from Swanage to Furzebrook, if that ends up being my last chance to sample Manston for a while then what a way to go out!

Just back to flat I borrow in Swanage after three lovely afternoon /evenings of lever-pulling in Swanage box.

    What a great weekend.

Still after a souvenir shot of me with a token at Swanage, if anyone can oblige?:)

Visited Swanage on Friday and today (Sunday) and I can only say it was a superb event. To see and hear five of Bulleid's finest creations in steam and working together was a privilege. The railway should be proud of itself for putting on such a fantastic show. To all those people who worked so hard to make the last three days possible, thank you.

What an event! I'm biased of course but seeing and hearing my beloved 34081 lifting 350 tons up the clim to Furzebrook was the stand out moment of the event for me. Mind you, being behind 34071 with 145 tons more was damned impressive.

Thank you for that. I suppose I was hoping for a 'me and a Pacific' shot, if anyone has one?

I must have been standing a few yards to your left when you took the picture of 34053 on the goods. I hope my picture comes out as well as yours. The sun went in literally less than one second after it passed me.
I must admit, it's going to be very hard to the Swanage Railway to beat this absolutely superb gala. However, the return of 34072, the début of 31874 on the line and a few through trains to Wareham might just about do the trick!

Incidentally, after saying that my favourite picture of the day was 34092 near Cat's Eye Bridge, I decided to check whether the combination of early crest Bulleid with high-sided tender + Mk 1 stock in green was actually authentic. Answer:- yes. Some original Bulleids kept their high-sided tenders well into the 1960s and the early crest could still be seen on some locos into the early 1960s as well. Green began to replace "blood and custard" from about 1956, so there was an overlap of several years when this combination would have been seen. For instance, Ivo Peters and Norman Lockett both photographed 34057 on 3rd July 1961 on the 11.30 Brighton-Plymouth on Honiton Bank and the train consisted of green Mk 1 stock while 34057 still had the early crest and had not received the tender modification.

34072 was one of a number that retained the high sided tender to the end and with late BR crest. I have a picture of it at Barry (before the tender went elsewhere ) so was a unique survivor there.
