Well, now that's getting a bit confusing - there are 3 Bridges in the second picture, but the nearest is actually the Forth one! :Arghh:

Out of sequence chronologically, but in keeping with the theme of bridges, this was two days ago - The Great Britain crossing the Caledonian Canal swing bridge at Clachnaharry.

    Climbing to Upper Tyndrum.001.jpg

62005 climbing to County March summit near Upper Tyndrum. I was going to go for a glint angle shot nearer to the summit, but with the train running an hour late, the sun was too far round. I settled for this spot instead, which I think I actually prefer...

All OK at Glasgow but NR says we must take a diesel. Thank you to the Jacobite.

There are 2 cloaking devices in fact - hiding behind 3 world famous bridges, and having the flight decks covering in the sort of white marquees that you get at large social events so everyone will think 'Nah, must be a wedding, can't be an aircraft carrier'!

On these days where a diesel is imposed in the consist by NR I don't understand why WCRC don't stick it on the front or at least inside, would be a damn sight easier for them.

Sometimes, like yesterday on the West Highland, it makes life easier to shunt at the start/destination. I've seen Ian Riley split his Fives & run with his POB back to Bury Top'n'Tail so that there's no running round necessary at Castleton or Bury Bolton Street. All the quicker to slake the thirst after a hard day on the footplate. It also has the advantage of giving photographers more options when trying to keep the diesel out of photos of course.:)

No it doesn't. That is just the estimated time which Realtime sometimes gets wrong. Looks still to be at Carstairs as per schedule

It was on the back leaving Glasgow. I'd have thought it unlikely to go behind the Duchess at Carstairs.

But I innocently thought that as repeatedly stated by many on here as fact WCRC do nothing for the passengers or photographers?;)

One thing though, isn't the use of assistance from the rear operationally allowed in certain cases on an 'as needed basis', does that still apply if NR have imposed constant assistance?

It might only apply to certain regions too? ie once out of Scotland?
