Quantocks Scotsman would seem an ideal name for a lip smacking hoppy IPA at circa 5-6%! :)

Pathfinder and BLS managed well for years with poly pins on mainline railtours at mainline speeds....not to mention the KWVR CAMRA award winning bar.

GCR bar is usually at Quorn on galas .For diesel gala moved to Loughborough platform as the organisers understood the market.Passengers bought beer as trains stationery as a result .

SVR did a Flying Hopsman, that was with Bewdley Brewery, I wasn't keen, certainly not as good as Sir Keith Park or 2857

Sad to hear that 43185 intercity hasn't made it on railtour, replaced by green powercar 43093.

'Bright beer' is racked from the cask into another vessel, leaving behind the lees, so that it can be moved and dispensed (unpressurised) without it being cloudy. It remains a 'live' beer and has quite a short shelf life, but is fine for a festival or tour where you're sure it will be sold.

Fair enough though though it would not be my personal choice.

I've got to agree , draught is best especially if it comes from a deep cellar , not possible in a railway yard or buffet car .

Ahem, as someone who's job it is to be keeper of casks, the temperature that ale should be kept at is between 12c and 14c cask ale should be served cool not cold, if it's served below that temperature you can give a hazy appearance, also if it's too cold the coldness can mask the taste. Personally I have no objection to a bright beer served on gravity in a buffet car.
