What is quite interesting is that despite its small size Stogumber once boasted a goods shed...................

  6. Nice to see the QB services listed, thanks. You won't need as much chalk on Saturday, what with us whizzing through non-stop on more than one occasion.

I like today's quote, although this particular real ale fan hardly gets to sniff the stuff these days, having somewhat underestimated the commitment required in my current role!

Here's to a cracking weekend. It's certainly got all the right ingredients. Be there or regret it.

Unless I am much mistaken, apart from the late train on Saturday, Stogumber gets the same train service all three days.

The size of Stogumber Station is largely dictated by the fact that it is built on a 'shelf' cut into the hillside.

It was one of the busiest intermediate stations on the line, poised between Crowcombe and Stogumber villages.

  11. The WSR Plc have just announced:

"Due to operational reasons the Taunton to Bishops Lydeard shuttles will be replaced by a bus service between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard Stations. The WSR and GWR would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

I have just been to the gala; glad that I went. My schedule was a mixture of class 20s to remind me of Skegness in summer, a McRat to remind me of exploring the Highlands as a younger man, and a Western and a Hymek to remind me of earlier diesel days in the Westcountry. A great day out!

I spent an enjoyable day at the gala yesterday. The class 20s and the 26 were very good but I have to admit that the Western and Hymek still managed to steal the show for me. The acceleration and sound was superb.

Shame about the goods train being cancelled due to one of the 20s having a flat battery but all services appeared to run to schedule afterwards. All in all A Grand Day Out. <BJ>

A friend went yesterday said it was, Very quiet yesterday pair of hoovers sat doing nothing, a complete farce, Stories they are too heavy/out of gauge, wsr couldn't be bothered to get them to work, drivers were offered etc, they claim they didn't know they was coming.
might go tomorrow but not sure if I can be bothered judging from what I've heard, its a shame the railways gone this far downhill.

    A bit glass half empty!

Some pix, which I hope will show this gala is more than well worth attending - even if they ran it with all dmu's, I'd still love this line.

Sounds like you shouldn't bother unless you just go and enjoy what is there instead of what might have been there!

Excellent two days 26043 is the star.Swapping the roster for operational convenience a big black mark though.

I was line Controller for much of the day yesterday.

The only alterations I am aware of are:

    1. The first move to being D1661 light engine as opposed to with the freight as the freight had not made the previous move on Friday due to a class 20 having a flat battery.

    2. The 1147 from Minehead being extended to NFW as that section was not occupied by TN BL shuttles.

    3. The 1447 from Minehead having Western Campaigner on the front and D5343 on the rear as a speed restriction on Washford bank (brought into effect just before the Gala) gave concern about D5343's ability to haul itself, 6 coaches and The Western up the bank.

Which of those would you describe as 'operational convenience'?

    Kind regards

    Robin
