Ex-GWR 5700 Class No. 5764 is usually away from public view in Kidderminster Carriage Shed, though it has emerged for static display once or twice in recent years and the shed is open to the public a couple of times a year. There is a suggestion that Ex-GWR 4500 Class No. 4566 will soon be going into the Carriage Shed.

There is a future suggestion that when the next overhaul is complete early next year, 45110 will come out of the engine house (starting it's overhaul 50 years since it hauled 15 guinea special), which would allow both the pannier and the prairie to be put on display in the black 5's old spot in the engine house.

The important thing though is that all three are under cover

Not heard any news in a long while, last I heard was the boiler cut up for finances (apparently uneconomical repair anyway). And the wheels were still being held.

4121 was by the turntable in 2011 but I’ve not seen it recently (the frame of 4115 is still at Tyseley according to UKLocos but I’ve never seen that). I believe pannier 7760 is also in their strategic reserve these days.

The four at Snibston are presumably now locked away somewhere?

More to the point perhaps are there any locos of particular importance 'locked away' ? In particular of historical importance to the UK?

Yes. When I last visited in 2012, fireless Barclay 1815/1924 was also on display in the main hall. Hunslet Austerity 3851/1962 and RSH 7493/1948 were kept in the running shed.

I believe No 2 Pontyberem is the only surviving loco from the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway if that qualifies as historically important. It apparently moved from Blaenavon to to a private site at Barry Dock around March 2010 and is presumably still there.

I read that there are plans to redevelop the site of the Snibson Discovery Centre, with 140 houses on the site. This could result in the locomotive (ex P&M no. 921) being fenced off away from public access. Do we know who owns it and what are the prospects of getting it moved to a proper display area?

I understand it may end up on display to the public again - at another location - but cannot comment further at this stage, as I'm not party to any negotiations that may take place in the coming months.
It could happen sometime next year, and if it goes ahead it will be publicised accordingly................

The snibston four are owned by Leicstershire county council. Redevelopment of the snibston site is to include retention of and securing the pit buildings. Some £2m has been spent on the buildings. Trackwork in the yard area is to be retained and a new cafe is to go on the site. Wagons and locomotives will be occasionally put on display near said cafe.

Offers have been made on Cadley Hill number one in the past as it's Leicstershire connection is tenuous at best (it worked in NCB area 7 but in Derbyshire not Leicstershire) but the council flatly rejected such offers, which makes me wonder if it isn't part owned by South Derbyshire council as well.

It's a shame as most other engines to have worked at Cadley Hill are either in service or on public display somewhere in the uk with bagnall Empress now at work on the PBR in Wales.
