Right so by looking at a video you can tell she's not steaming well, and you are comparing her with another loco that's not just recovered from basket case condition... I'm sure the staff at Carnforth will really appreciate your expert assessment.

When you are responsible for doing the FTR, maybe your opinion might count, as it is stop acting like a crazed Rottweiler when ever anyone offers an opinion. Not quite sure you get this discussion forum concept.

It's about challenging peoples opinions and since you do not do FTR's then my view is just as valid as yours.

As a frequent recipient of your hostility, I have to report it most often feels like you are challenging the right to express an opinion more than the substance. Crazed rotweiller is a bit strong but you do come across as if you are a sentry, for WC in particular. It seems you think every critical observation is part of a wider agenda but I will challenge you to evidence what or why that may be. I will help you too - there is no agenda just a range of views many of which do not align with your own.

From all the videos I've seen, the sound of the locomotive is not as it should be and some fettling is required. Totally to be expected and pretty obvious that is the case when you compare it to a locomotive of the same class that does sound right. It's taken at least 3 to 4 years to get Galatea "on song".

Very true and the comparisons with 35028 working straight out of the box are specious because firstly it's been a working machine for 38 of its 50 preserved years; secondly, the people that look after it know it intimately and how to optimally adjust it. 35018 is first in class at Carnforth so understandably will take some learning to know how it performs best.

And as it does learn how to set up 35018, i would imagine there will be some who wish they could just phone up their counterparts at Stewarts Lane and ask ," how did you set up 28? but the petulant behavior of someone who did not want Clan line to haul his train, when he was unable to run anything, i would guess make that a very difficult thing to ask .

At the operating level I suspect the working relationship between engineering personnel is probably more cordial but yes that incident will have made things needlessly more awkward.
Still, the man knows how to get things done, we are told.

I am sure what you say is right, it would make interesting watching as the two support groups hurl stale buns at each other from their support Coaches :) when 28 & 18 do indeed turn up at the same Depot or stabling point .As you say most likily the two sets of engineers would say, wheres the nearest pub :)

Yes, it's Kolhapur. Tyseley have secretly overhauled it and sent it to Carnforth.

In all seriousness, the headcode, despite what certain people think, is not an indicator of what the loco is. It's whatever someone at NR has chosen.

No mention of this movement at Realtime Trains. The loco is not required for the Royal Duchy until the 30/07. <BJ>
