The areas of immediate concern are those details to finish off the Station building and platform before opening. So door handles, internal plasterwork, light fittings, guttering and downpipes etc. I think the correct paving stones are to hand for the platform, how much will be paved and what the other surface will be perhaps someone in the know can tell us. From a Heritage point of view most bases are now covered and it will be a fantastic job.

Post the opening, there is the footbridge and canopy extension as well as the Platform 2 waiting room to consider. Here the key issue is what happens with the footbridge as the other parts depend on it. With the time and money pressure removed several solutions are possible.

    1. It could be taken down entirely, reduced to heritage railway height from NR, shortened to match the original and resited so that the canopy extension and staircase meet as at Hall Green.
    2. As is but jacked up and the towers reduced to Heritage railway height. This way the canopy extension can be correct but the interface with the staircase will be more offset.
    3. Leave footbridge as it is and have shorter canopy extension, if this is even feasible.
    4. Leave footbridge as it is and abandon the idea of a canopy extension altogether as it is both too close and too wide.

Much will depend on how much income the railway derives from the opening as Options 1 and 2 would be expensive. Option 1 would require a rail mounted crane once the rails are laid.

Important to remeber that just like Kidderminster, Broadway is a complete new build project, and as such will be a work in progress for years to come after opening.

For me, the most suitable vehicle would be the railmotor, given that we are trying for a 1904 appearance at Broadway.

    Winchcombe stn & Steam Railmotora.jpg
This is what the line was associated with in the early days, and this strange vehicle, with a chimney poking out, gave the name to the service of 'The Coffeepot'.
Oddly enough, photographs exist of the same vehicle, with some of the same people posing on the platform, at Winchcombe and at Toddington, but not at Broadway. The very early services were hauled by an open cabbed 0-6-0 tank loco

Didcot's railmotor would definitely be good to see, however I suspect we'd need to string on an awful lot of autocoaches given the expected crowds when we open!

Yes, a Duchess with thirteen coaches behind might be better, if not really appropriate for the location.................don't worry about practicalities such as platform length!

Couldn't the GW fitted locos could handle 2 trailers for'ard and aft? (I seem to remember a shot of such a formation at the Royal Albert Bridge, Saltash.) How many trailers could the GW railmotors handle on a route such as the GWSR?

The locos certainly could yes, but I've no idea how many you could have attached to a steam railmotor, would be interesting to know.

They also ran like that in the early days of the SDR.

They were most normally pictured on their own although, supposedly, they could take a trailer. Add a further horse box and it would be a struggle. By contrast an A1x has no trouble with three up 1 in 68. For G.W.R. territory, better off with some sort of pannier or small 2-6-2T I would think.

One of the Valleys lines had the only 6 coupled railmotor, which looked quite a bit more butch than most, but still doesn't seem to have lasted long.

Broadway's platforms are now over 200m long and were built to accommodate 10 coaches + loco (s).
The point with the rail motor was ceremonial and photographic, not people carrying. A large crowd can stand on platform 2, while the rail motor and people in Edwardian dress can occupy platform 1 for the photographers. Let's re-create one of the opening photographs!

Actual Broadway trains will be 8 coach sets.

Note that 30.03.2018 is now a 'soft' opening date, as mentioned at the AGM. Trains will start to run, but the fanfares come later, at a date still to be decided.

Well, mostly! Train 3 will be 6 coaches to all intents and purposes (the 7th being a BG) until probably summer time, the 8th coming at some point later on.

Can anyone enlighten us as to what 1904 stock will be in use on a daily basis?;):)
