Well 13 on and performance like that, and with a fully loaded train, it would be interesting to know the total weight. I'm don't have the info to calculate the gross weight, but 5 first class, buffet, 4 standard, the brake, kitchen and support coach, taking into account a couple of no shows, but adding the staff, means that there must have been in the region of 500 on board.
One of the stewards was selling Dalesman lapel badges and in his selling spiel he mentioned that this was the only steam hauled train regularly running in the UK with a load of 13 coaches!

I believe the rough calculation is that a loaded MkI is 35 tons hence the 10-coach loading / timing of D350 and a 13-coach loading / timing of D455 - standard from BR days and presumably used a guide by WCRC in its use of ex-LMS steam traction. Agreed that these "steam" timings conflict with the timings applied to the same loads but with faster / more powerful diesel and electric traction at the front but I think that WCRC will stick to the "steam" timings rather than the faster "modern traction" ones.

Overheard at Settle on the outward run. Young man says I thought that was supposed to be a steam engine, answer yes it was a steam engine. Young man replies well why was all that black stuff coming out of it, did it have a diesel inside! Bless him.

A bit late to the party with this one ! What a way to bow out. A shame to see her go as she's been in a great form. :)
