.... well, not working ones, at any rate! Caley 123 has run in preservation though not for a hell of a long time and probably won't again any time soon.

The Holden F5 folks are doing their best to solve the 2-4-2t issue and Tyseley may yet silence sceptics with a 'Bloomer'.

Why the silence over the absence of an 0-8-4t?..... Oh?..... fair enough!:Droid:

No eight-coupled tanks of any kind other than Swindon 4200/5205 classes AFAIK?

Fresh out of 4-4-4s and 4-6-4s as well. But we digress.

With three 72xx's still extant but not steaming the 2-8-2t springs to mind (unless there are "off-company" examples I am unaware of!)

I'm not a huge new build fan, and I certainly am not going to ram my views down any ones throat, but I must admit the Saint project is my guilty pleasure - I would be fibbing if I said my juices were not flowing a little at the prospect! I would however like to see one the the 72oo's running before 2999.

I mentioned it way back up-thread, but I could fill the 2-4-0T slot with a GWR metro tank as my fantasy/you just won the euromillions/they just made you dictator of North Korea and I Want It Built Now!

If I were dictator of the DPRK I'd keep the 'Dark Skies' feature as national policy..... as I have an interest in astronomy as well as railways. I'm rather partial to Kimchi too!

The GW Metro tanks are a big gap which would be useful to quite a few lines. There's also AFAIK nowt (locos carriages or wagons) from one of the most interesting episodes of the GW's history..... the Dean era convertible stock. Some of what was built ahead of abolition of the broad gauge was direct ancestor to much that followed.

0-6-4 tanks are another one with no working examples.

Can see it was a good idea to use the GNR boiler for the interim, but really they should build the correct boiler next rather than all this froth about the next LBSC loco. Otherwise they've only done half a job.
Sorry if the word Frankenmonster offended, such irony.

I just don't get what you are trying to say at all. The boiler was there, available, not going to be used for anything else and its pretty much identical. So?

It IS the correct bloody boiler! The H2 is a C1 bar the following differences:
    C1 drivers: 6' 8", H2 6' 7 1/2"
    C1 bogie: 3' 8", H2 3' 6" (C1 trailing wheels also 3' 8", can't find figure for H2)
    C1 cylinders: 20" x 24", H2 21" x 26"
    Length over buffers (including tender): C1 57' 10", H2 59' 9".

So, quite frankly, not much. A bit of increased tractive effort, a slightly longer tender, different buffers...

It's almost identical. You're practically trolling with such comments.

Looking at the project you're supporting - can you not see your own hypocrisy?

I vaguely remember once reading about a shunting contraption which could move the odd wagon in a yard which was motor bike based. Anyone ever heard of it?

There used to be one at Llangollen; it was like a long looking wheelbarrow, with a Lister engine. It had a pad/fork that engaged with the underside of the wagon headstock, I cant find a picture of it just now.
Believe that it went to the NRM later.

LYR, LMS and BR (LMR) are my interests, extending into the blue diesel era, and I suppose, Northern Trains (well, a bit!, sorry!)

The midland boiler went to Mangapps farm I believe but has since been bought by another person. It was believed that it was a jinty boiler for a while but it is from either a M&GN 4-4-0 or Midland 0-6-0 2F tender engine.
