The thing is Chris, every photo taken is processed / enhanced even if the user isn't aware. Even saying 'I use the standard settings' is a processing choice.
If you took 4 different makes of camera, set them to standard, and took exactly the same image, they would all differ due to the enhancement choices made by the factory.

But as you say, everyone is entitled to an opinion, they are like...

Anyway, enough photo thread creep and back to Mid Hants Matters...
Perhaps Dave would be good enough to post some ages from this week's services. Perhaps from the Ropley shuttles.

Looking ahead to December it looks like there will briefly be two Black Fives on shed at Ropley.
Steam Dreams are operating two Christmas Excursions in the area with the first due to arrive from Southend on 2nd December (Black Five on the outward leg only).
The Black Five is then due to leave with a trip to Bath on the 5th December (diesel on the return leg). The Black Five rostered could be 45305 which has never visited before or 45231 which was based at the MHR for a while.

As normal, working all weekend on Open weekend, might be around from 10-12 on Sunday though. 45379 was running today, following successful repairs to cracked frames.

Interesting to see the 27 being worked on at Ropley yesterday.........

By the boys from Brechin, apparently, after a bit of banter, that's where its going to be restored..........

Also nice to see 45379 out & about as well, after some TLC, especially on the RAT!

    A couple of pretty pics.

Did you find out if it is their plan to restore it back to a working class 27 or is it still intended to be stripped for a class 21 conversion as was mooted some time ago? Be sad to see it leave the line but if it has no future in Hampshire and gets the attention it requires to be useful then good news.

Restoration is the plan. A monumental job. I wish them every bit of good luck.

    Fair play to them.
A trip north of the border will be needed once complete.

Would probably be easier to start from scratch, given theree's bugger all left....

What I don't get is, the fact the engine is going separately from the carcass - if its all going to the same place........

Less stress on the surviving metal if less weight inside...wouldn't want a bent frame on loading/unloading

Its members weekend this coming Saturday & Sunday - the freight is out to play both days :) doing 2 round trips each day with 92212 Saturday & 45379 Sunday with brake Van rides on the QMB available on a 1st come 1st served basis due to limited numbers, oh and a suitable donation. ;)

Also the wagon group will have its usual fund raising stall on the up platform at M4M & the infamous (?) yard tours will also be available if you'd like to see up close what we get up to....... & the newly restored goods shed will also be formally opened giving an insight into goods operations as they used to be - its rather good.

I caught 45379 and the freight in the platform at M4M. The engine was stationery and the right hand injector on. What concerned me somewhat was the torrent of water falling fom it into the four foot under the firebox area. Does the boiler have a major leak, or is it the connection to the injector? Hopefully it is an easy fix.

The freight itself looked superb and must be the best and longest BR era rake in the country, a credit to the restorers.
