Nice clips Graham. That's right up there on my list of sights seen in old books which I thought I'd never see, right alongside a double fairlie crossing Britannia Bridge!

Whoops! Is the issue with the point work or the pony truck? Hopefully it's resolved in time, that's a bit of a pickle.

My late Dad, an absolutely staunch SR man, would have seen this as an utter hearsay!

Yes, thus far there is no direct evidence for it ;)

Not exactly - as I understand it, the BALDWIN pattern seats are as fitted to the 1898 original.

Re banging driver and firemans heads is not a surprise as the locomotives used on the puffing billy - na class - also have the same "design feature"

I wonder what the average height of a North Devon labourer was in the 1890s, compared to the average height of railway volunteers now?
An old family friend who was involved in the FfR revival used to claim that 19th century Merionethshire men were effectively stunted by poor diet (and working underground!?!?), hence why Merddyn Emrys had to be made bigger in preservation to suit a generation with better nutrition!

Didn't exactly sound overtaxed, did it? Roll on the next masterpiece from the new Pilton East for "Lyn" to get it's teeth into! Lovely clean crisp exhaust (I even muted the rubgy for a few minutes). Has the pony truck issue been sorted?

The Maunsell livery sits rather well with the L&B liveried stock to my mind. Good turnout too.

All of a sudden, those black and white images from the 30s have turned into colour and the L&B has well and truly awoke from its slumber.
WELL DONE TO ALL Truly inspirational
