35018 British India Line

The Santas surely cry out for a red engine up front ....
although looks like meat and drink for the 8F ambling through Lunesdale and the Ribble Valley.

 

Plus 35018 might need more attension to get it steam tight,and i would think it may be saved for early 2018 Who knows over the S&C ?

 

Put back in its box until the 2018 Dalesmans commence?

OK now on a serious point, what likily routes will 35018 be accepted for, i assume an Merchant Navy will be as gauge friendly as an Jubilee? are there any routes where 35018 will not be allowed to run?

 

Anywhere south of Crewe/Doncaster

 

I assume that the GWR mainline will be off limits as little above OO seems to fit these days.

 

So really only routes that Clan line has worked over and that means, OH DEAR South of Crewe , and Doncaster

 

Unlikely to be passed for Cumb Coast, Cambrian, Oban, Bakerloo line,Circle line,HS1, District Line, Harrogate, Looe and Copy Pit for starters. Probably another 90% of NR too in due course along with everything else larger than a LU battery loco.

Think the NER ran with the main engine and then pilot engine attached to the front. Sometimes it was hard to tell, when you have lines that are worked with two up front and one as banker as a matter of routine!
