If you have a livery ballot there's a severe risk of it ending up in BR black!

    That would be a crime!

But seriously hopefully this will be the start of the Swanage Railway moving away from it's BR livery policy. Perhaps one day it might lead to some LSWR coaches being restored to go with it.

When I win the Euromillions, I'll be buying 959 from the KESR, 70 and 76 from Pontypool as well as finding a suitable brake coach. After a contract restoration I'll build a carriage shed at Swanage to keep them in.

I think the carriage shed comes first.

But seriously Swanage does desperately need a carriage shed, especially now some of the Bulleid and Maunsell coaches have been restored.

Wasn't there a plan to do something at Herston?

Yes earthworks were done and tracks laid for an 8 coach shed. I think they then had a change of heart and decided a bigger shed was needed. I believe options are now being looked at for a 20 coach shed elsewhere on the railway.

Nothing against the T3 but a certain A2 is for me THE most exciting overhaul of the decade. :):):p

Fair point @daddsie each to their own and all that though.

I could be pedantic and say I saw her at Kings Cross 'in steam' for the railway children thingy. I fell in love with her then. The video is, of course, available (not of me weeping) ergo, I have shot myself in the foot

They've already got the money for an assessment. Until that has been completed they won't know for sure whether restoration to running condition will be feasible. So why are they asking for more money now?

I think we all agree that the T3 can steam again, whatever engineering problems are thrown up. It just needs money. So donate and lets get it working

We all have our favourites as I say I'm looking forward to seeing how things go with the T3, It's just things like 'the overhaul of the decade' annoy me slightly , 45699 and 6023 have needed rather significant bits made for them to steam again, for me they are 'overhauls of the decade'

    It’s just a tag line!

The overhaul is being planned, it will is extremely unlikely that anything will be found that will be terminal. But it will ONLY be possible if finance is in place so that we can press the go button as soon as the assessment is complete.

    Trust me, We Know!
Actually it was a bit more complicated than that but I'm not going to go in to it here but there were some good reasons for stopping when we did. We are actively working several solutions that will hopefully bare fruit. We hope to get the most vulnerable stuff under cover ASAP but it's never as easy as it looks from the outside.
