The second video clip is restarting from a sigs stop before Ascott. My notebook says'' slipping then utter thrash with 500 tons-no DL push-superb''

Why oh why didn't WCR let her run up Sapperton without a DL? It was a nice dry evening and I am quite sure 46100 would have made it with 11 on and no DL. I lost interest after that. Read all about it in the next HR .

    hello
it was interesting at ashchurch there were a hundred plus people on the station all under the illusion that it was going to be scotsman
i never had the heart to say anything but after the scot had belted through everyone left without comment seemingly unaware it was a different loco !!!

Scotsman...Royal Scot. To some of the public, they are probably one and the same!

The caption on the video suggests Cassington rather than Ascot (and there is a distance between the two)? My father was on the platform at Ascot and commented that it was a very impressive passing although he could see no operational reason for the signal stop?

It was indeed Cassington. Looking back towards Wolvercote Jnc. As per video caption. No idea why Ascot was suggested.

She did stop for a period at Ascot, to the east of the station and crossing, which when combined with the Cassington Stop I assume explains why time was lost between Wolvercote and Ascot?

Same at Moreton in the Marsh when we stopped there. Police in evidence. At Shrub Hill a lady was remonstrating with one of the stewards about the non appearance of FS. She simply could not understand that steam locos (and diesels) can fail!!! Nobody had told the waiting throng in advance that it would not be FS

Yes sorry my fault as we had a signal stop at both. Presumable the stop before Ascott was due to the late running HST in front. We were there for over 5 minutes. GWR does it again!
