Not quite sure what you are asking here but I assume that you are wondering if the locomotive has been gauged for acceptance over the full route rather than just the Carnforth to Sellafield section it used to work on. It has been a few years, so far as I know, since anyone aired the intention of wanting to take a train with it over the full route so you will probably have to wait and see what happens should a tour operator express a desire to do so.

Gradients not much of an issue, the engine did very well on Cowan bank which is 1 in 40 or 1 in 37 depending on which source you read. The curvature and the permitted axle loading are the problem.

It did look like there were very few enthusiasts on the Yorkshireman on Saturday, but there did appear to be a large number of railtour first timers who seemed to be well pleased with the day. The only unhappy person seemed to be the guy who was left behind at the Alfreton water stop. Passengers were even prepared to go down the front during the monsoon conditions at the Kettering water stop.
It was good to see the loco remain in the station for a fair time that allowed the passengers to get their photographs and view the loco. Did seem strange though that the loco did not end up at the NRM until the tour departed having spent time down at Holgate sidings.
The routing of course does not allow for much fast running with many junctions and a lot of use of slow lines and a diesel hauled return, so I guess it does not appeal to many enthusiasts.

A tad late, but here is the curve and gradient diagram of the Main North, showing Cowan Bank.

Having felt how hard an EMU has to work up there, I’d like to have seen & heard that!

Thanks Green Howards - I maybe got myself confused that FS was still at York but also saw this working from Southall on Friday thinking it may just be the ECS?

You are not confused at all - 60103 is still at York. The times quoted are indeed the ECS move to Norwich.

You're absolutely right - and that seems to imply a diesel pulling the ECS.

Looks like the LE movement from York is unpublished?

I would agree - I can't see anything showing for a working between York N.R.M and Norwich?
