Didn't Gary say, on a previous post that whilst no brake vehicles survived, there may well be enough body sections to part scratch/ new build a brake vehicle for the Oldbury set, I saw from the leaked picture that the vehicle has a wooden chassis, is the plan to replicate this for the others, or will they receive metal under frames? i would think that drawings are now available for the wooden components that would have been used to manufacture the chassis?

No I did not say that, any brakes would have to be new build and yes they would be wooden underframes.

Sorry, i must have mis understood, i was under the impression that you had some incomplete sections of coach body as well as the complete ones but i dare say you can make copys of each section of a body as you take apart each vehicle to rebuild them to end up with a flat pack new coach body for the brake vehicle .

We have various sections of LCDR coach bodies that could with new build sections be used to create a LCDR composite, perhaps it is that you are thinking of.

Unless you get very lucky and a surviving brake coach body is suddenly rediscovered. Highly unlikely though!

At least you have a couple of operational or nearly operational 4 wheel brake coaches that no. 10 can be run with for now.

Something a lot more interesting I would trust. As examples the L.B.S.C.R. director's saloon, the early Pullman which belongs to Stephen Middleton or a couple of the grounded six wheelers. The latter would take the initiative of a newbuild timber underframe started with I.W.R. No.10, a stage further. Two things though.

Firstly, there are likely to lots of brows being mopped at having to comply with the extraordinarily tight time scale, probably accompanied by thoughts of the "never again" kind. Secondly, however successful the series proves to be it has an air of being of the "one off" sort. Well done to those who had the guts to take it on.

A bit late to film Stephen Middleton's Pullman Car, Balmoral since I made good the missing side framing years ago.

It wasn't about who had the guts to take it on, many people were never asked and although it wouldn't have suited any of the projects I'm currently involved in, I'm sure they are others out there who would like to have been asked.

What I actually meant was 4 different MK1's and seeing how 4 different railways approached their restoration, however there seems to be some legs in the alternatives in this this format, so I herby copyright it!

Whilst I would find that very interesting, I suspect it would be only me and my fellow C+W department members across the country!

Very much looking forward to this though, fingers crossed for not too much false drama...

The totally false drama seems to be compulsory in this type of programme.

Yep, it's an overworked cliché rather like the unnecessarily long pauses for dramatic effect before announcing an answer/winner/loser that generally has me reaching for the big red button on the remote. Television does need to have a word with itself.

(Adopts Channel 4 narrator Geordie accent):

"It's day 57 at Havenstreet, and the project is in crisis when supplies of teabags and hobnobs reach critically low levels. Without suitable refreshment twice per day, the restoration is in imminent danger of failing to meet a key project milestone. At the last moment, Gary remembers the existence of Granny Winter's pantry. A plan is devised to seek emergency supplies, but the team has reckoned without the arrival of the 11:05 through train from Smallbrook, which is due any minute. With the level crossing gates locked, there is an agonising wait of three minutes before - finally - the train steams through, gates are opened and emergency supplies of tea can be be procured just in time to keep work flowing on schedule ..." (continues ad nauseam)

Definitely go with the hobnobs :) although to be honest I only had a very, very minor bit part in this one, so I will not be appearing on your TV screens.

I guess we can all be thankful of little mercies then Gary Nicking teabags and hobknobs from Granny winter, i can see the tv crews returning to havenstreet to film another program, this one called "Haunted" when the ghost of Hanna Winter is seen pacing the platform crying " you have taken what does not belong to you" Management at Havenstreet are baffled as they say, she left us the house in her will, its ours , C&W however look upwards and away and whistle whilst they excuse themselves. ;)

Purely a "big chufferite" calumny! By the way the cafe has not been "Granny Winters" for years.
