GWR 813 Christmas on The Kent & East Sussex Ry - 2017/2018

GWR 813 is spending Christmas & The New Year on The Kent & East Sussex Railway.

 

Saw her last weekend at the SVR on the freight... looked amazing. Hoping to go and see her at the KESR between the Christmas / New Year break.

 

Was an amazing brake van charter........very cold!

GWR 813 has also been booked to attend The Bluebell Railway's Branch Line Weekend 18 - 19 May 2018.

 

I assume 813 is not one of the two Santa loco's maybe the banker from Rolvendon to Tenterden as has been done some years.
The USA tank is one and if it is not 813 anyone know what the other one likely to be as it is a long drive from Swanage.

 

From the few photographs I have seen via Twitter,813 is not being used as a banker.

 

The second loco should be the Pannier. 813 is mainly being used as steam heat engine for the Pullman, and then on the evening Pullman itself. It can also act as standby to take over, should one of the other two encounter a problem. The Norwegian is currently being kept "spare".

 

Is 813 likely to be in traffic for the "Crimbo Limbo" event?

 

813 will be steamed between Boxing Day - News Years day with the Vintage train from what I have been told.

I believe that is the intention, and I think that the USA tank is due to be on the A set (subject to availability.)

At present 813 is booked to work public trains on Saturday 30th and Monday 1st only. These will be the 10.40 and 13.15 departures from Tenterden and will be formed of a 4 car set featuring both our Maunsell carriages (one of which has only just returned to service).

Is there a reason she isn't out on the 31st too? Unfortunately that's the only day I'm free, was hoping to come and see her then. Do you know what will be out in her place?

 

376 according to the loco roster.

 

I guess that by the the KESR have used the loco 9 times as the agreement.

 

Thanks, hoping to make it over on Saturday for my first visit to the KESR.

 

On the 31st it was due to work the Pullman. When I left work yesterday we were in the process of swapping it over so that 1638 would work the Pullman (and the corresponding steam heat turn) and that 813 would be available to run the service. Watch this space...

 

Right, I have just logged in and checked my work email and can now confirm that 813 will work the 10.40 and 13.15 departures on all three days of the Crimbo Limbo event.
