    It is for 45407 back to the ELR the day after bringing the Jacobite ECS back from Fort William . Not sure if 45407 will lead the stock back unassisted or if a diesel will drag the whole lot back .

    Having brought the 'Jacobite' ECS from Fort William the day before LMS 5MT Class 4-6-0 No. 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier' departs Carnforth in rather damp conditions and no shortage of steam. Mick Kelly on the regulator fireman unknown, possibly one of IR lads

    Returning back from Jacobite Duties in Scotland, LMS 4-6-0 Black 5 - 45407 "Lancashire Fusilier" heads the final leg from Carnforth to the ELR with support coach on 5Z80 and captured rushing through Balshaw Lane station at speed. DSC_10442.jpg

    A most remarkable way of getting from Leeds to Castelton. Even if there's a gauging problem somewhere on the direct L&Y route, couldn't they go via the LNWR line to the Manchester area?
